Can you please all tell me if you think this is a girl bunny or a boy bunny? I found Kahlua and Kokanee involved in carnal relations and now I am wondering if Kahlua might not be a girl….(warning, graphic images….)

I’m inclined to think that’s a female but the picture is pretty fuzzy to me so I cannot be sure.  But I am no rabbit sexing expert.  How old is she/he?

carnal relations… oh my!  so hard to tell… judging from your pics & the pics on the page Sarita linked too it looks like Kahlua is a girl *unless* he/she’s under 5 weeks old since i can’t tell the diff except for the older bun comparison.  what a head scratcher.  i’ve heard sexing bunnies is a task requiring an expert… now i can see why!

Ummm – no clue unfortunately – do you have a rescue nearby you can take them too? If I remember correctly, they are not fixed? If thats the case you should probably separate them until you know for sure…you don’t want mini-Kahlua’s all over the place! I think a knowledgeable vet, or a knowledgeable rescue person should be able to tell pretty easily at this age if it is a female or male. Also, females will mount each other to show dominance as purely an act to show which is the “top female” so it doesn’t necessarily mean that the one mounting is a male.

From the fuzzy picture, the part looks more like a little slit than a little tube, so I am inclined to say female at this point.   However, that last picture looked like a boy.  Hmmmmm

I just wrote a blip about males having nipples too – like humans and other mammals, but then I had to really think about that.   Do they?!!  I just realized, I never have ever given that one ounce of thought.  I will need to check out the nipple discussion wherever that is.  Do you have the link to that discussion?

EDITED: Okay so after researching and a call to an expert –  males DO have nipples, but they are just much less pronounced.

Ok, I *think* I found one nipple on Kahlua…I remembered the nipple discussion too and that source I had found said male rabbit’s have no nipples. Argh, It’s so hard to tell. I am thinking from all your input plus looking at lots of picures, it sort of looks like female parts…plus when I flipped her over (after disrupting their sinful behavior hehe) I didn’t see anything sticking out, so I would assume she’s female….I just dont’ want babies, I mean I love baby animals who doesn’t but the world doesnt’ need them!! I am thinking of taking her in on friday just to double check…She’s almost five months old so she is maybe just maturing and trying to dominate?

To me it looks exactly like Bettie’s when the vet told me she was a HE, even took her off for a second opinion. I still remained unconvinced and never QUITE came to terms with it. I trawled through pics upon pics of their rudey bits on the net, and nothing got that nagging doubt out of my mind that the vet had been wrong. Thankfully the poor little fluffmuff didn’t get a complex as i talked myself into the masculinity being the reason sHE was a little horror and made Bum’s life miserable for a week or so. (humping and all sorts!) Took her to the vet a little while later, saw a different (lovely) vet and was told 100% that I had had a Bettie all along.

I could be (probably am knowing me of late!!) totally wrong tho, lol… but the tip seems to be a little more pointed than it would be in a little boy.  Good Luck!!

Male and female rabbits mount each other and others. I thought Fu was a boy because of what (s)he was doing to the cat. I brought him to the vet and was discussing neutering and was wondering why she was giving me weird looks. Finally she said…you do know Fu is a girl? I said BUT HE IS HUMPING THE CAT! I am still living that one down. I took Shadow in and said, you tell me.

I think the thing to do is to take both of therm to the vet to be sexed. Alot of times the vet can compare them to determine who is a male and who is a female – perhaps this is something you can do as well. That’s what my vet has done with baby rabbits too – she will compare to help her determine the sex if they are very young rabbits.

Bunny “parts” are so frustrating. I have an appt in January to get Bindi fixed and I said “I’m like 90% sure it’s a boy, but put a ? beside the neuter.” Maybe I will pick up a she, who knows? I don’t care, girl or boy, he is still adorable.

About the “carnal relations”, there are 2 buns who live at the stable where I board my horse, One is a spayed female, the other an intact male and She humps him!!!! It’s pretty funny! He just has this look like “What the….”

Ok, I got a much better look at Kahlua last night after spending hours online…I mean I did get her as a female…And I think she is definitely female…Phew…I guess the key is it would look more like a cheerio…It doesn’t really have to do with how much it is sticking out…Sorry about the fuzzy pictures, me and the boyfriend tried our best but it felt a bit *wrong* to be taking pics of her private parts

K & K , face it we are perverts.   Glad you liked the photo. I made a black and white copy one day and it really did have a very illicit feel about it.

However, did not appreciate the looking like a cheerio….there goes breakfast!

We have 4 bunnies – 1 boy and 3 girls. The youngest girl bunny has been trying to establish her place in the pack by showing dominance over one of the other girl bunnies. She’ll “mount” the other and I just sigh and say “TEGAN! Knock it off!”. In fact sometimes she’ll get herself all mixed up and mount the head end….

My girl bunny is going through a humping fase (again!)…. looks to me like girly bits, but again the photo is a little fuzzy. The first bunny I had was a girl the after that I had a boy… I thought I wouln’t be able to tell the sex but if you compare the two you can really see the difference (boys have a very obvious peepee that appears if you press gently just abouve the delicate bits). Hope you can figure it out!

The sad part is I was really good at sexing guinea pigs when I was young…I think it took this entire thread plus hours on the internet to sex ONE RABBIT ….sigh I’m getting old I guess

i don’t think i’ve ever actually looked at Meadow’s (or my first rabbit, Stephen’s) private bits.  Stephen had never even been to the vet, so for all i know… he was a girl… hmmm.  now i wonder.

From what I can tell they don’t like their private bits being looked at either…It’s funny how animals can seem to have shame and not want that looked at…My dog leaves the room if you are changing…She knows when people need privacy and she does not like her bum looked at either! And Woo the embarassment if she has an accident… never been punished or scolded for any bathroom business, but boy she hides and looks soo guilty if it was a long day and couldn’t make it.
