When I first got my bun I kept him in a temporary makeshift cage. But then I started to let him free roam and I fear he has become too spoiled now. He then started to be like going through puberty and being extra naughty, so yeah chewing apple wires ( he literally only chews apple wires it’s so odd). I would let him free roam during night but then he hops on my bed but poops all over with me in it LOL and I’m trying to sleep and not watch him. We then decided to use a dog crate and he could fit his whole body through and escape so I blocked the sides off with cardboard but then yesterday trying it for the first night he kept rattling the bars and being noisy 😣. Does anybody have any suggestions? Should I get a cage or pen is what I have fine? What should I do I want to sleep 😭

Definitely sounds like bunny puberty. Is he neutered? Unneutered rabbits tend to have these problems. Peeing on the bed, restless energy. It could also make him calmer. Chewing Apple wires? Chewing wires is not good for buns, could you do some more bunny proofing so that he can’t get to them?

If you put him in his pen in the night, then he would just chew at the cage, and still keep you up. If he is fixed, then I don’t know what else to recommend. All of the things you described sounded unneutered.

Wishing you sleep and luck! 😉

I think if you up your bunny-proofing you will both be happier, both before and after his neuter. There are lots of good tips on this site, if you go to the “Bunny Info” tab at the top, there is a section on bunny-proofing.

You can use an exercise pen or cube grids zip-tied together to block him from jumping on the bed as well. Cube grids might also help you reinforce his crate so he can’t fit through the bars.

Cords should be kept out of reach and protected. You can use more cube grids or position them strategically so they are behind furniture.

I do agree that Apple cords especially seem to be the forbidden fruit to bunnies LOL. I think because they are thin and soft? The instinct to chew cords comes from their resemblance to a plant stem or piece of grass.

It can help to hang up a towel or blanket over the part of the pen that he is rattling as well (so if you put up something around you bed and he’s messing with it, that might help).
