Please do not breed your rabbits – there are too many homeless rabbits out there.  Consider getting your male neutered and your female spayed.

I hope you will read the following links:

          http://www.rabbit.org/adoption/overpopulation.html

          http://www.rabbit.org/adoption/hidden-cost-of-breeding.html

Also this site prohibits the subject of intentional breeding – despite that I do encourage you to PLEASE DO NOT BREED your rabbits and instead get them spayed and neutered – it is the right thing to do.

WHEW!!! Thank you Sarita!!! THANK YOU!!!! So tettetsky, I am so proud of you for making the right wonderful decision to adopt one rather than breed for one. Those of us who have helped in rescue understand how monumental that decision is. So tettetsky, you are able to find a baby rabbit at rescues, but I just want to warn you, that though they are are VERY cute..VERY VERY cute, They are very messy! And they grow so fast, that they aren’t babies for long, so their novelty quickly wears off as they become adults.  And of course that is another expense of having so spay or neuter, plus you don’t know for sure if your other rabbits will get along.

How about this idea – What about if you FOSTER baby bunnies. That way you can have the opportuntity to care for them without the long term responsibility. And if one of them seems to capture your heart and you feel that one would get along with your other two, then athat would be great. But in the meantime, you can get the rabbits that you already have spayed/neutered, and enjoy the presence of baby bunnies while helping out a rescue group. Maybe that would be the way to go.

                Keep us updated.

                  Hello Tettetsky!

I am glad you are considering adopting, there are many many bunnies in the world that need new homes. If you let us know what general area you are in, I’m sure that we can help you find a rabbit rescue in that area that will be more than happy to help you find a nice bunny to adopt.

It is possible that even though you haven’t seen your female bunny mate with your male that she is pregnant? Are they housed together? If so, I would recommend separating them and getting them spayed and neutered. This will not only give them healthier and longer lives, but will prevent any surprise litters. I would take the female in right away, that way your vet can also determine if she is pregnant or not.

As Binkybunny mentioned, there is always the possibility of fostering baby rabbits – rescues will need help with this especially around Easter and Spring time. This is when most rabbit owners dump their baby rabbits that they bought for Easter
