So I have a male Dutch bunny, he is just over a year old. His name is binkie and he is very loving!
Recently, he has been doing some awful short screams 🙁 I know that bunnies tend to scream when they are in pain or frightened, which is why I need help. Everytime he screams he is laying down sleeping perfectly fine and doesn’t jump up like he is frightened. He loves cuddles so everytime he screams I run over to pick him up and give him cuddles and make sure he’s alright. He never seems to be in pain or breathing heavily or anything.

I have read online that it could be a nightmare. I know someone on here will be able to help me 🙂

thank you ❤️ From me and binkie x ♥

It’s hard to confirm whether it’s “nightmares” — that being said, screaming definitely merits a veterinary visit. I believe I remember a case where the scream was linked to occasional internal pain occurring in the rabbit that would come and go. I imagine the diagnosis of “nightmares” needs to be a diagnosis of elimination, i.e., it is not explained by anything else.

Can you try to record this happening? It’s possible it’s not a scream, and could be “clucking” if it’s happening in a relaxed state.
