My son wants to be a “small rainbow bouncy ball” for Halloween.  How the heck do I do that one??  I couldn’t sleep at all last night.  Between getting excited about Drue and trying to figure out how to turn my 2 year old into a bouncy ball for Halloween it was just about pointless.

So are there any crafty or creative types on here?? Anyone have any ideas on how I could turn him into a bouncy ball?  The rainbowness I figured  would be easy enough to do, just some rainbow colored fabric, rainbow paints..etc..but how do I get him into the shape of a ball?

you could sew a circle out of rainbow fabric. you will have to cut the fabric into ellipsis with pointed tips and then sew them together side by side. then put velcro where you would sew together the last ellipsis so he can get in and out of the circle. cut legs and arms and neck holes, but sew elastic around the edges so they will hold tight to his body. then when hes in it, stuff him with cotton and velcro him up! this is how i knew to make pumpkin costumes, but its easy to make it into a bouncy ball instead!

            does that make sense?

Hmm kind of?  I’m not sure what you mean about ellipsis with points..but I think the going with a pumpkin pattern but doing it a bouncy ball instead will work out good   I’m going to google pumpkin patterns lol

Haha, well good luck with that! I’m having trouble thinking about what I want to be for Halloween! It’s my favorite holiday by far (if you actually consider it one). I must say I carve a killer jack-o-lantern.

                        That is cute!

We don’t really do Halloween in Australia but this year my nephew (born Oct 31) is having his 6th BD party Halloween theme.  So for the first time in my 32 years I’m dressing up for Halloween – so exciting!

When I read big rainbow bouncing ball I thought  “Can you get those Asian paper lanterns really big and modify it?”  Properly couldn’t sit down in it and prob not really safe so scrap this idea!!!!!!!!!!!       Mmm……….might try it for my own costume thou…..

get one of those HUGE balloons, and paper mache sp? it and then cut a hole for head legs and stuff then just stick coloured fabric to it or paint it, this is actually quite easy to do i did it for xmas one year but it was a robin painted a red chest and the rest brown it was awesome lol

OMG! That is brilliant! I never even thought of paper mache!!  Oh he will be so happy!! We had convinced him last night to be Elphie (our pug) but then every time we’d ask him again “what do you want to be for Halloween” he’d go “ummmm….a SMALL RAINBOW BOUNCY BALL!!!!” and we’d be like “no remember….you wanted to be Elphie??” and he goes “oh yea…Elphie…”  all sad.  LOL So, he’d be so happy if I could make his dream of a rainbow bouncy ball come true!!

Can you tell he LOVES bouncy balls?  And which one of his is his favorite??

Plus you can get him involved in the paper mache part.  Fun for everyone!  Just check with him that he doesn’t really expect to be able to bounce!

Oh he does but he’s got that part handled lol.  I asked him how he was going to bounce and he did froggy jumps and went “bouncy bouncy bouncy” lol.  So all I have to do is handle the rainbow ball part!!

I was thinking of those extra large garbage bags for leaves – they’re kind of soft so you could cut holes in one for arms and legs, then velcro a collar to close at the neck. Stuff it with rags or paper to get the shape round. Before doing it, paint the rainbow, or glue on a rainbow patterned fabric. Might stay flexible when he “bounces”. Take pictures!
