OK, It’s late I’ tired, it’s cold and my sweet potato crusted cottage pie was ready to go and smelled great. Grabbed a bowl out of the cupboard thinking it was one of my normal wide stoneware ones… Thoroughly enjoyed dinner and then when I got to the last few bites discovered that the chosen bowl has a Paw Print Motif embossed in the bottom. I must have put one of the pet dishes in the cupboard by mistake.

I have just eaten out of one of the pet dishes

Oh hun, don’t worry! i haven’t found an official “pet bowl” for Xerxes (my dog) or Mustachio (my bunny) so i technically eat out of a pet dish every day.
Heck my cat eats my food all the time. I have wasted so much food throwing it away because Ziva (the cat) jumped on the couch and ate out of my plate that I was running out of food! So now I just stand there and wait for her to scoot over and we share! I don’t really care to be honest. She doesn’t always eat all of it and they are my family. I know most people think it’s gross but it’s not a big deal to me.
If it is for you, look at it this way the dish had been washed, it sounds like, so it was clean! There’s not really anything for you to worry about, germ wise. And also, a dish is a dish. As long as it’s clean it doesn’t matter who used it last!
The way I see it is that it’s no different then eating out of your own bowl or, for me, eating after my fiance or sisters. Ziva is part of my family. And I hope it’s the same way for you. If it bothers you see if the bunnies will eat of your bowl. Then y’all are even!

I just use my regular plates and stuff for the pets, so we share dishes all the time. They get cleaned, so it’s no different than eating after a person.

              Lol, funny.

I think I understand the aversion Roberta, even though the bowl was clean.
I have soup mugs I used for the fosters and I can’t quite bring myself to using them again. The memory of how gross they got from messy, hormonal bunny boys just puts me off. Silly really as they’re washed and clean as ever.

It’s when you start eating the pet food out of the pet bowl that you really need to start to worry.
Except rabbit salad. That’s acceptable. You might risk death by bunny wrath though.

Hmm, the dog has a dog bowl and the rabbits have a rabbit bowl. I don’t think I would mistake them for anything else. LOL
Don’t feel bad though. If it was clean, then it isn’t gross or anything like that. It is just the psychological association of “hey my animal ate out of that” that grosses you out.

Heh, you know what’s funny though. We have “people” dishes that are labeled with big signs where I work. I sometimes wonder if people had used something accidentally that had been used by an animal. Although there are some animals you probably really wouldn’t want to share germs with.

                    Thanks Guys,
I don’t think it is so much that they ate out of the bowl as much as they tend to poop in the empty salad bowl after they’re finished. I don’t think I’ll die but the moment of discovering the Paw Print at the bottom of the dish was an interesting one… Looks like I need to have my glasses on when selecting plates out of the cupboard from now on…
