Meki has always been a sassy, pushy bunny since the day I brought her home and she pushed my hand out of her way, hard, so she could keep exploring.
Well when I was keeping Meki at my mom’s place during a move across state, my mom told me of the incident where my brother’s husky, Meeshka, accidentally got into Meki’s room.
Meki’s hutch is surrounded by an x-pen so that she has her home to hide in and then a good 6 ft enclosure to run around. This room is also my mom’s laundry room. Well after getting the laundry one day when my brother and his husky are over, my mom hears thumping from the bunny room and panics because she notices Meeshka is gone, too. She runs to the room to find Meeshka laying on the floor, nose right up against the x-pen and…. Meki’s nose directly on the other side. She shoo’d Meeshka out into the yard, closed the laundry room door, and looked over Meki. She was fine.
So instead of running into her enclosed hutch out of fear (which was literally 6 inches opposite direction from where she was nose-to-nose with Meeshka), or even huddling to the back of the x-pen, Meki decided to grump-thump at this dog and hold her ground.
Still, lesson learned, that door was shut tight and checked for the rest of the duration of Meki’s stay, and now she’s living with me again at my Meeshka-free-zone of an apartment. My mom made good and sure that she didn’t tell me about it for months because I would’ve flipped at the time. Which is also why Meki is not allowed outside because she clearly has no concept of predatory animals.
