I’ve done it. I have adopted a boy bunny named Ghost from the S. FL Wildlife Center in Ft. Lauderdale. My friend Sandra came with me for moral support, and we met all their bunnies and played with my 5 favorites. I had emailed saying I liked his pix online, but needed certain personality traits due to living situation. Ironically, they said I was describing his personality as well. He is laid back so far.
He is about 1 1/2 yrs. old, and seems a bit smaller than Sammy. He liked me holding him, and doesn’t struggle when picked up or put down. Litter box trained and neutered already. Their vet checked him out before we left and he is fine. He is now dozing near me as I sit on the couch.
Mum likes him, and I’ll show Dad his pix until next Tuesday when Dad gets home from the rehab. Ghost has the weekend to settle into his new home with just Mum and I for a few days. Then he will be meeting Dad, Roosevelt, and a plethora of nurses and aides. After the Wildlife Center, it should still be pleasant for him. He met my brother today, and liked him – along with the bite of banana my bro brought.
Here’s my new little man:

He looks as if he feels right at home! Congratulations on finding such a good match and wonderful news on giving him a lovely new home!
Awwww, what a sweetie! Congratulations
I was hoping you would post this soon! Congrats again on your new boy! He’s looks like such a sweetie. =D

So excited for you!! He’s beautiful!!
And a lucky bunny!
So………… are you going to keep his name Ghost?
Tehehehehehehe!
Oh Pam, this is so wonderful!
I got your note, sorry I hadn’t responded yet…just been trying to get my daughter on her way to her surgery for her thyroid this weekend and today, so it’s been crazy here, along with Fiver’s illness.
I am so very happy for you! He is gorgeous!
He does remind me of jerseygirl’s TimTim. Beautiful chinchilla coloring. <3
Just a little question, and forgive me if I’ve asked before but…who’s Roosevelt?
Glad to hear your dad is coming home soon and that you have a new wee bunny to love and love you back. Lots of hugs coming your way and please give Ghost a noserub from me.
xx
I saw him on BB’s FB page and was wondering…..so happy for you!! He really is gorgeous!
Jersey, I think you are absolutely right – he is a “ghost chinchilla”. I think his color is definitely light chinchilla, and I googled for ghost chinchilla, and he matches several pictures. Not many references in writing to that though.
Both chinchilla breed and color seems to fit him, so I think you have named his breed/color. There are some rex mixes online, but it’s possible that the soft areas in his fur are where the patches used to be that have grown back, but not all the way. Or he could be a mixed breed, which is most likely in an abandoned pet. I think TimTim has more gray, at least in the older pix of him I found here.
My mother wants to name him Normy, after her brother who passed. I loved my uncle, so we can try Normy the Ghost. What do you guys think? I call him Ghost, or Ghosty so far, but he doesn’t respond to his name particularly. LBJ10 – have a suggestion in mind?
He is timid but not skittish. I let him out onto the tiles and a small throw rug, and he came to my legs, walked around a bit, then went back into his xpen. He really likes his new “house”. Not adventurous so far.
MM: Roosevelt is my Dad’s part-time aide. He’s a very nice, strong man who helps Dad with bathing and dressing, getting in and out of the car & wheelchair, etc.
Thanks for your well wishes, and support with Sammy. I hope by now your daughter is out of the woods and on the mend, along with Fiver.
HUH??? You got a ‘ghost’!!! Lol! You know what silly me thought….. ha ha ha!
SUPER excited for you ‘both’ Pam. You getting a new bunny to love and Ghost getting a new home and mum – how wonderful!!!
So sorry for my late post but I’m sure I made it in time for the celebrations? He he he…..
And he is BEAUTIFUL!!! I adore his colour (beats boring brown/grey Henry, sigh! Lol!) and I’m sure he will be your everything, just what you deserve. Wishing you both every happiness in the world. And I know your dad will be thrilled – how lovely. BIG HUGE happy smile from me.
PS – I adore his name Ghost, but I have to admit Norm (Norman) is pretty dam cool for a bunny name!
PPS – OH NO Pam! What were you thinking asking LBJ for a bunny name suggestion??? DON’T DO IT! Ha ha haha ha ha……
Well, I would suggest Stormin’ Norman, but you said he is pretty timid. Hmm, what about Blake or Blakely? I also like Dorian or Graham. I was playing up his white and gray coloring with those names.
Shame on you Andi, you know I’m the bunny name master.
LBJ- actually I like the irony in a timid bunny sounding big and bad.
my vote is Stormin Norman! Hehe ![]()
