› FORUM › THE LOUNGE › I give up getting a kitty! What breed is this bunny?
Soooooo this always happens! I have the talk with Josh, long talk and argument and me bribing him, trying to convince him to let me get a kitty, he agrees, I make arangments to go see and get a kitty and……guess what i come home with? Every time i try to get a cat I find a bunny I HAVE to rescue! So this one is 8 months old, shes a girl, the owner didnt know what breed she is, her previous owner didnt eathir. The owner doesnt know if shes neuterd or not. Is there a way to tell?
kids handling her, she lived in a tiny pet carrier, she was being fed crap and no hay, she had a litter box with CAT LITTER! Also shes super chubby, the previous owner only fed her food, junk food, and no hay!!
Im going to post pictures and hopefully you guys will know what breed she is! If not you can just look at the prety bunny! It breaks my heart to hear storys like this, a bunny being passed on to so many diffrent paple….I give her a forever home![]()

Oh wow! She reminds me a lot of Jersey. Jersey had that same greyish brown fur on the ears, and I slowly saw it change and her ears sort of grew a fringe – haha – and the white crept up around the edges. Having said all that, I’ve never discerned what breed she is! Anyway, congratulations on the new ‘kitty’. Any names yet. I think Kitty would actually make a cute name!
I know you’ve had trouble finding a suitable vet where you are, but I would advise you take her to be seen. Sounds as if the previous owners did not seem to know much about her, so I’d be checking first she actually is a she!! Also, a general check over to nip anything in the bud and see she’s free of any nasties you don’t want spread to the others. EDIT: Ok sorry, I read in your other post you’re taking her to vet.
Cute! And Sweepy-lol !
Were refering to her as Kitty right now, were not sure if it’ll stick, i was actrully going to ask for suggestions for names.
As for the vet thing im calling them tomoow, my bonding attempt realy didnt work out, Foofoo attacked her and she has a bad cut under her eye that im worried about. I defently want a cheak up anyways. Any ideas on her breed?
I think that kitty is perfect for her. She’s definitely a mutt. I’d say mostly rex but her face seems a bit dwarfish to me.
BTW, I don’t know how long she’s been at the shelter with a better diet but one of the issues I feel attributed to Georgie’s passing was that we switched her from a junk food diet to a proper diet messed up her digestive system.
That’s a good point, Markus. Did the owner you got her from give you some “junk food” to take with her? You can introduce the good stuff slowly over a week or two. Just add some hay to go with the junk, and cut it back in quantity. Watch her poops, give her water, and gradually mix in good pellets with the junk. Wean her off the bad. That’s the right way to do it, isn’t it Markus?
I LOVE the name Kitty! It’s so perfect under the circumstances. And don’t get discouraged about the eye. The vet will need to see her regardless, plus you’ll want them all sexed and get appointments now for their speuters later. That way you can make plans and budget for them. If you have a male/female after all, you’ll want them separated immediately so you don’t risk a litter. Remember it takes a month after speuter before you can put them together unless they are the same sex. It’s not a bad idea to have a home space for each of them to call their own set up at this time.
For good info. on the bonding process, check out the Bonding Posts. I particularly recommend Beka’s threads about Max and Meadow. She had great luck with a washing machine! (They weren’t in it, but on it. In a basket.) You have time while waiting for reports from the vet to read up on how to bond and how to handle aggression.
That is one cutie Patootie!!! (and I agree that there’s a resemblence to Jersey, so probably a Mini Rex, or Rex mix.)
Hmm I thought dwaft to when i saw her, here ears are really dwarfy. The cut seems to be healing well so the vet isnt an emergency, however i would really like to get her over there. The problem is, as ive emntioned before my vet doesnt know rabbits. I brought my others in for a cheakup and he didnt do anything! He didnt weight them, barly looked at them. So I really dont know how much good it’d do to bring her to the vet.
Last night I gave her some hay and normal food, this morning shes having a slight case of “Poopy bum” poor thing. No she didnt give me any of the junk food, she had a friend with a rabbit she was going togive it to. Other than the eye she seems really healthy, she does binkys, she chews on her cage XD She does whimper sometimes when i pick her up, but it sounds more of scared than painful…..Shes a little twitchy to. I really want to get my females neuterd, BUT theres the matter of my vet. Ive heard that female netures are risky anyways, but I really dont trust my vet. He killed one of my Chinchillas…..and when he netured Fluff (My boy) He only took off one of his balls, is that normal?
Weve chosen the name Bella, but we kinda still call her kitty sometimes.
I was looking at that middle photo you posted and I had to do a double-take! It looked like Kitty had 3 ears!!! hehehe I like that name by the way
She’s got a good home now! Thanks for saving her
And I think that you could still get a real kitty……though Josh may not go for that!
She’s beautiful! Thank goodness your rescued her. I think Kitty is a great name-given her story
Markus brings up a good point, watch her diet as you bring her around from likely a not-so-good diet.
Whereabouts are you? I bet we could find/recommend a better vet for you. Not weighing them is a good sign he doesn’t care or doesn’t know what he’s doing.
K&K, this was in previous thread re tiger.lily27 location. tiger.lily27, sounds as if a better vet is in order so hopefully K&K and others can help there. I have heard of partial neuters and/or tissue being left behind (ovarian or testicular) that has caused issues down the track. HOpe you can find a better vet!

Hmmm she looks dwarfish in the face the ears are kind of long for dwarf but some dwarfs do have ears like that.
Cute little thing. Congrats. Kitty yeah I can see naming her that hehee. A kitty that looks rabbitish
Josh wasnt so into the name Kitty, he likes Bella better, so shes Bella Kitty. XD Or the kitty.
Her eyes looking alot better, it didnt swell or anything so I didnt bother with the vet because he would have just told me to keep her own her own, which i already know.
I think you guys are right, she looks really dwarfish but defently a mix of something else. Shes to big to be just dwarf. But she may be big because of fat, shes really over weight, as her old owner just fed her junk food…..
