My sister got a bunny from a breeder at the end of last year.
Monday night it passed away…we didn’t take her to the vet for the first visit and she was sneezing but it was rare and once or twice her nose was wet but it went away the day she passed she was fine, she was eating and playing and grooming herself and now I feel like I should have taken her to the vet. She just passed away so quickly and to do an autopsychological is like $4000. I don’t knw. I prayed for her soul and cremated but I feel like it could have been avoided but she was fine. We even gave edible herbs as antibiotic for her sneezing. She was fine but then she was gone….

Very sad sounds like she had snuffles, bacterial infection that causes respiratory problems, its not normal for bunnies to sneeze or have wet nose, needed vet to prescribe antibiotics. I wouldn’t have an autopsy as it won’t be of any use and its very brutal, poor little bunny. Rip

I’m sorry you and your sister lost your rabbit., Buns sneeze now and then, ifor example when they get hay dust in their nose. A wet nose is most often not a sign of poor health in a bunny. Rabbits normally breathe only through their noses, so when the air is humid or the bun has been exercising, moisture deposits around the nostrils. A rabbit cold (not quite the same as the colds we humans get) gives symptoms like persistent sneezing and thick-ish white or colored snot around the nose. The bun can sit with it’s chin pointing upwards and even breathe through the mouth because the nose is blocked up with snot. The eyes are often runny.

It’s sadly not very uncommon for rabbits to die unexpectedly. They are fragile creatures and many things can go wrong with them, and when that happens, it often happens very fast.

It’s lovely that you said prayers for her soul and had her cremated. Your feelings of guilt are normal and, I think, rather inevitable. We always think we could have done more or differently when we lose someone we love. It’s a part of grieving and it doesn’t necessarily mean we actually could have done more than we did. We are only humans, our powers are limited.
