Well let me start off by saying, two weeks ago i brought my friend over who has two big dogs, and his shirts and shorts smell like dogs all the time, and bobo i think detected that smell, he got really scared and freaked out, he avoided us and thumped his feet , and well again today I brought my same friend over, and the same thing happend, I don’t understand why he acts like this.. Is this because of smell of the dogs? skin color? or i don’t know.. any ideas?

No, we weren’t loud, I mean right when he walked in the room, bobo just freaked out.

Maybe he was asleep and you startled him.

No, I don’t think he was sleeping because he never sleeps around this time, and when he sleeps sometimes he hears me and wakes up but doesn’t react like this.. His previous owner was white and didn’t exactly treat him right, and my friend was white, could this be sending thoughts into his head and freaking him out?

That would be extremely hard to know and I don’t even think I could venture a guess about that. With my rabbits I don’t always know why the react the way they do and I can only guess like you are doing and sometimes I just cannot figure it out. I try to look more at the environment though and think perhaps it’s a noise or a smell. Some of my rabbits get startled with new people because they are loud or are just shy.

yeah I’m not sure, because I have alot of visitors like my cousins all the time and he never gets scared, but for some reason he just got scared for no reason with my friend i just hope he goes back to normal, next time I invite my friends i’ll move him into a different room.

If your bunny isn’t used to dogs at all, the smell might be freaking him out. Introduce your friend to the bunny over time, he’ll get used to it and stop gettign so scared all the time.

Oh, yeah well he never lived with dogs before, but if i introduce him to my friend, he’ll just get freaked out again though.. :/

Maybe ask your friend to shower and change his clothes right before he comes over. If your bun doesn’t freak out, then you’ll know it was the dog smell. If he still freaks out, maybe he just doesn’t like that particular person for some reason? Sometimes animals are funny and don’t like certain people. To us there’s no good reason, but the animal just doesn’t like how they smell or something; there’s no way to tell what they’re thinking sometimes.

Oh, okay thanks. But my friend never really usually comes anyways like barely, so I could just move bobo because I don’t want him to freak out again and have him have probelems again though.

I’m agreeing with the idea that it’s the dog smell on your friend. If you really want your bunny to give your friend another chance, (and I agree with the shower and clean clothes suggestion) you could let your friend have a little treat right away, like a banana slice, and get down on the floor to offer it to Bobo. It’s possible that a good smell that’s tasty will override the bad dog smell.

Maybe now that he’s back again, he smells familiar. Bunnies can be so weird sometimes.

I agree, buns react oddly to new smells, freak out, and then magically get over it.

I think I remember BB-herself mentioning something about the limited range of bunnies’ color-perception…I’d sort of doubt that your bun, clever as he is, can differentiate skin-color on humans…
