I just moved to a two bedroom townhouse. It is laminate flooring downstairs (Coffeebean hates slippery floors) and carpeted stairs, hallway, and bedrooms upstairs. We are going to buy a big area rug for the living area and probably make a runner from the stairs to the rug since laminate is like lava to the bunny. I really hope he will take to going up and down the stairs. He will have free run of the house. Here is my problem though, I can’t for the life of me decide where to put the cage. In our apartment, we had it at the end of the living room/dining room area, furthest away from the front door and table. It was a convenient, out of the way spot and not in our bedroom.
Now, we have a fireplace at the end of the living room in the corner. The other corner is the staircase, and next to the sliding glass door in the last spot and I’m afraid he would get hot there, although I don’t think it really gets direct sunlight. I’m not putting his litterbox next to the kitchen table, gross. There is nowhere to put the bean! I really, really wish he were a cat right now. In a bunny body of course.
When I think about upstairs, I don’t really want a rabbit cage in our bedroom, especially since my husband has developed hay allergies. I don’t really want his cage in the second bedroom either, because my family who will be visiting has pet allergies and I kinda want to have a space I can use as a guest bedroom without killing my guests. We could always move him into our room when people are coming over, but I feel that the allergens would be hard to remove and would be concentrated too much in that room.
The last spot is the laundry area in the upstairs hall just outside our bedroom doorway. It is big enough for side by side washer/dryer set and currently empty with no doors so just part of the hallway really. I would be willing to remove one of the upper cupboards and get a stackable washer/dryer instead of side by side, but I’m afraid that would bother the bunny to be next to those machines. I’d put them in the garage to accommodate the rabbit, but the garage doesn’t have hookups. Anyone have experience with a laundry room bunny cage?
Well, I’m not getting rid of the bunny so his stuff has to go somewhere. Its driving me crazy. Suggestions?
