I try my very best to let out my doe lion head rabbit for 4 hours a day. But she keeps me awake all night long with banging and chewing against her cage bars. She has a large cage with an x pen surrounding it so she has room to hop around. I feel like I haven’t slept in weeks. It seems that no mater how long I let her out it’s not enough for her. I would love to have her be free range but i sadly can’t right now given my current living situation. Her cage is in my room because I can’t set it up anywhere else. I’m beginning to become very stressed out. I can’t sleep longer than 5 hours. I would let her out while I sleep but she likes to jump on my bed and pee on it. I don’t know what to do anymore. I’ve tried everything. I’m scared that it’s ruining our relationship because I get mad at her quite often due to my lack of sleep. She just recently had her spay surgery, could that play a role in her excess energy? Because she never used to do this….

          Have you tried earplugs?

What time of day do you let her out? Bunnies are most active at night, so letting her out morning and evening should help.

Bunnies can get a bit weird post spay. It’s about the body and brain adjusting hormonally. We call it a “post-spay craze”. Boys get post-neuter-craze. In girls it tends to last longer than it does in boys. It can involve burst of energy, territoriality, even aggression, increase of sexually driven behaviors. It’s a temporary thing.
