So, every morning I give the bunnies their pellets.  Viktor goes beserk and leaps around between all three floors of their house in glee.  Pandora ususally perks up and heads right for the bowl.  Hareiette, being the crown Princess, usually takes a lazy stance of "ooh, I guess I’ll deign to eat"  – but generally will come over, even if it’s just to take a few bites and go back to her beauty rest.

I always watch them to make sure everybun is eating. This morning Hareiette has no response. Nada, nothing.  I go and get a drink in the kitchen and come back to sit on the couch to observe them.  Viktor and Pandy are muching away, but Hareiette hasn’t moved.

My concern is growing, is she feeling unwell? So, I shake the dried bananas.  Viktor and Pandy again go nutso.  I give one to Viktor which Pandy immediately steals.  So I give a second one to Viktor.  He couldn’t care less about the theft, since he’s licking Pandy’s cute lil nose about 30 seconds later.

Still no response from Hareiette,  so I shake it again and she’s like perk!  did I hear something? and of course comes leaping over for a banana.  She’d totally slept through my giving her the pellets. We always joke that she needs her morning coffee, she’s definately not a morning bun.

LOL – she sounds like a sound sleeper too! Glad she finally woke up for her morning banana and then probably went right back to bed :~)

Aha! That would worry me too. Sometimes my two go into a funk when the weather turns and nothing will get their attention.

wow she’s like me before my morning coffee.    i’ve thought for a while now that baby bun may be a losing her hearing a wee bit because she doesn’t respond sometimes until i actually give her a gentle pet.  i hate to do it because it startles her when i do this, but sometimes i wonder if she’s ill or worse and i just have to check to be sure.  especially after i’ve walked around her room AND tried blowing a gentle waft of air in her direction without response from her.  this is never in the morning though… always mid or late afternoon.

                Sleepy head she is!

I wake up early and feel bad going back to sleep so I get up and they know I am moving around, I can hear them scattering around.

I get the cats and dogs their morning bickies then I prepare the rabbits vegies and change the water and then I clean the cage etc and lucky last I feed all the fish.

After all that I need a rest.

Hareiette sounds like me. I can sleep through an earthquake if it happens too early.

I get so worried when that happens! It’s always my worst fear to go into the bunny room for the morning feedings and find one….not well or worse, and it’s happened a few times where my Zowie (who is ALWAYS desperatly hungry, lol) would just lay there and not move at all when I put their pellets into the cage. The first time it happened I noticed that Zowie and Nibbles had somehow managed to pull the plastic bag of litter through their cage bars and had been chewing it all night…bad mommy for leaving it there! But Zowie was fine eventually, I watched her really closley and gave her tons of hay and regularily felt her belly. Nibbles doesn’t care about breakfast though, like your Harriette. She’s an older bun and I seriously think she sometimes doesn’t hear whats going on, lol, until Zowie steps on her head while shes jumping frantically around the cage in anticipation.
