Sorry about this rant, but i AM ABSOLUTELY LIVID!! Joy for a Monday Morning! I have just thrown one of our service users out of my office. Now she’s usually a lovely sweet little girl, and we chat about our rabbits as her and her residential home manager have one. Anyway….. my god….. she’s just told me her review is tomorrow and they HAVE to talk about her rabbit. When I asked why, she told me because she threw it in a rage!!!! One of the boys she lives with wound her up and so it was HIS fault, and she didn’t care, didn’t want it anyway, etc etc, and now her mum will have to have it. As you may imagine, I WENT MAD!
Although she has learning difficulties, she knows right from wrong, and I am absolutely appalled by her behaviour. She gave me a pic several months ago, of her proudly feeding Skidz that she said I could put up on my office wall next to the ones of Bum & BeanI really do feel quite sick!!
I am debating whether to ring the home & tell them I will go & get the bun (an outdoor hutch bun), one thing is definite, I no longer want her helping me out in the office on a Monday morning. My reaction has scared me if truth be known, I really could have smacked her and had it not been a "work" thing I think I would have done. Animal cruelty has ALWAYS made my blood boil, but NEVER have I had it so in my face. ROAR!!!!!!
Rant over.
In Aussie land you can be charged with cruelty to animals, I am guessing it would be much the same over there.
This makes me so angry!! I can’t get the image out of my head arrghh
Yes, it is the same over here, thankfully. I’ve been told she’s sat in the day room crying because I was mad at her. The boyfriend rang as I text him in angry expletives, and all he could say was, “but she’s not all there is she”…WHAT the blinkin’buggeryballbags has that got to do with anything! Although you gotta love him, as he didn’t object when I said I was going to ring the home & go and get the poor little thing.
Let us know when you get the rabbit and how he is doing. Some people should not have any animals.
If your not “all there” enough to not throw a rabbit, you don’t deserve to own one!
OMG I would be fuming too!! I have to agree if she doesn’t have the capacity to care for a bunny then she shouldn’t have one! I really hope that you can get it.
– Annette
when creatures depend on us for there care & survival there is nothing more disgusting than some one who takes on the responsibility and then does this. whats worse is then to cry publically feeling sorry for herself – acting selfishly instead of worrying about the care of the rabbit. i hope this is a stark lesson on when to know she’s over her head in responsibilities she’s not capable of handling. grrr
unbelievable.
PLEASE rescue the rabbit!!!!! I can’t stand to hear or read about animal abuse. You would be saving a life for sure. That girl does not deserve to have an animal. It breaks my heart!
This poor bunny needs a new home! Why does it seem that most of the population is completely insensitive to the feelings/needs of animals smaller than dogs? ;____; I hope the little bunny-friend is okay and not broken-legged or anything.
I would be very concerned about a possible injury the animal has like to the spine or leg and any internal injuries. Is there a way you can take him to the vet?
that makes me so angry too! I agree, get that rabbit out of her house and to get looked over by a vet. She clearly is not stable enough to care for a pet.
Yikes, good thing you are caring enough to give the bun a new home! kudos to you. I hope
the bun ends up being ok *sigh* after being thrown, that sucks.
Seriously unbelievable…Let us know how it goes getting the bunny…
Please update us as to how this goes. It sounds like the poor little bun doesn’t have that great of a home anyway and you would be saving his life. This time she threw him. Who’s to say what she will do if there is a next time? She also expressed that she doesn’t want him, so he may be suffering in other ways just because of neglect. How sad…It sounds like everyone here wants you to adopt him and show him that humans can be loving. As for the client who threw him, she should not have anymore pets. It might help to have a member of your humane society, ASPCA or animal control (or whatever similar agency you have there?) speak with her about the possible criminal implications of treating any animal in such a way. It may be difficult for her to grasp due to her disability, but then again it might make an impression that will stay with her and affect her future behavior toward animals. Good luck with everything! Please keep us posted.
I caught my first case at age 17…I saw a guy smack his dog int he face because he didnt want to run across a busy street. the guy smacked it a couple more times. At this point he then PUNCHED the dog in the head. I calmly walked up to him, smacked him in the face and asked him how he liked it. He said he was calling the police. I waited there and called ASPCA at the same time. Guy filed against me and I against him.
Went to court, judge was an animal lover. Gave me 6 months probation and a 100.00 fine for simple assault 3.
Guy went to court for cruelty to animals. Got 3 years as it was his 2nd violation.
Made me feel a lot better about things. I cant stand people that hurt animals. Some people just dont get it…
yay for fredsdad! i *can’t* believe it all went to court. wow. thank you for A… smacking the idiot (not usually for any kind of violence here, but the guy’s obviously a jacka$$ – pardon my language) and B… carrying through with ASPCA.
Yes!!! You are a good man Fred’s Dad! At least someone had the guts to do something. It’s just horrible what people do to animals and they should be punished. I don’t believe in violence like the majority of people here but in this case I’m sooo glad you punched the ##$#@%%#%$%!!!!!
I am the last to condone violence…I dealt with that enough in the service.
Sometimes you have to stand up for those that cant stand up for themselves…4 leggers included.
It was funny that since it was not a felony that it was a misdemeanor that stayed on my record for 5 years. When I got my first job, they pulled my criminal record, and looked at me and asked, “So, you went to court for smacking a mean animal abuser, huh?” and just laughed a little. I got the job, but I was given a little bit of a hard time over it for awhile.
OH wow!!!! That’s horrible Spacehopper. I sure hope you are able to get that bunny out of there! I also hope he’s not injured, but even if he is okay, then obviously animals should not be part of that program or housing situation. I then hope you are able to find a loving adopter if you are not able to take this bunny in. Poor thing.
Fred’s dad…I don’t know how anyone is expected to just stand by and watch someone abuse an animal. And it stayed on your record for five years!! That all just seems so unfair.
Now I’m mad about two things. GRRRR!
its gone now, so no problems. Most people that saw it were on my side anyhow.
I had to real the original post twice! How can any one think it’s okay to throw an animal? If this girl has learning difficulties surely she should not be solely responsible for the care of any animal without being properly supervised. Have you managed to bust the bun ot of there yet Spacehopper?
And FredsDad… nice job (not condoning violence blah, blah). Some people just deserve a smack in the gob!!!!!! Ooo I’m all riled up now….. must go open my care package of proper chocolate my sister sent for Christmas from England.
BTW does any one else cry when they see the ASPCA ads on the telly? I even caught my boyfriend getting a little misty eyed the other day! So now we donate $25 a month along with the WSPA… they really know how to get you don’t they!
Fredsdad you’re my hero!!! That’s a wonderful thing you did, I can picture you strolling up calmly and punching the jurk!!
The David Duchovny one for shelter dogs made by Pedigree foods gets me every time. If you have no clue what I am talking about, watch it on YouTube.
HELLO!!!! Sorry for the silence on bunnykins. It’s all been a bit manic here. I will fill you in on it all when i get home tonight, but for now rest assured bun is safe!! RSPCA are involved – but don’t worry, the bun wont be homeless for christmas!!!! (i’m still not overly happy with the current situation of it all we are keeping a CLOSE eye and ear out, and it got worse before it got better, seems it wasn’t the first time either, and the home manager actually witnessed it first hand this time….& was absolutely sickened!!! BUT BUT BUT…. BUNNY IS SAFE & UNHARMED!!!!!
Jellyrose……Cadbury’s by any chance? 🙂
please fill us in ASAP! i’m on the edge of my seat…
So glad to hear that bunny is safe! Yes, please do let us know when you have time.
Whoooohoooo!!! My lovely Ma & Pa have a new addition to the family. 🙂 And all is well with bunnykins!! (so much for dad’s “no more bloody animals”).
Hope you get the rabbit and bring it home. Hate to think of rabbits tucked away in a little prison somewhere
YEAH! That is great news! Amazing that your folks took this bunny in. Your dad must be a “softy” at heart. What ah happy ending! Now we have to see pictures!
