I acquired a young male rabbit a couple of days ago to bond with Mako once they are both fixed and ever since then Mako has been aggressively humping my feet She’ll be lying down so I put my feet down thinking I’m safe but she immediately leaps up and rushes over to hump them! She’s so desperate that she’s following me right under my feet everywhere I go in the kitchen. She was even biting my ankles and stuff… Not fun. Can I do anything to redirect her or am I stuck being humped until the 24th?

At least your legs are being humped. Ours get peed on. Well I haven’t gotten the guy neutered yet so I know we had it coming, but still…humping wins over peeing any day. I am in constant alert because when he is roaming free, the floor becomes the lava from my childhood and the sofa is my only safe place. Last night I was having dinner and he went under the table and peed on both my husband and on my legs! He specially stalks me. I don’t know what he’ll do after the neutering next month!

Kayota: Does the new bun come in contact with your feet? If they smell like him that might be why she’s humping you, so you could try to make sure to wash any smell off before interacting with her. If it’s not the smell I guess she is just feeling territorial/dominant because a new bunny is on her turf and is taking it out on you. In that case there sadly isn’t much to do other than wait for them to be fixed and bonded. She might still calm down a bit over the next few days though as she gets used to the new situation.

I’m so glad my rabbits don’t PEE on me lol! She did quit later, I was worried about it though because she was literally stalking me and she still is but she seems to knock it off if I nudge her away enough times.

You could always try redirecting her to a stuffed toy or something. Some buns accept this “stand in” and some don’t. Worth a try though.

The stand in worked for me! Rufus went on such a crazy humping spree before he was neutered that I bought him a stuffed bunny. Everytime he got anywhere near me he’d start grunting and trying to hump whatever surface he could find knees, elbows, feet, even my hands when I was just putting vegies in his cage. I used to just always put him straight next to the stuffed bunny and he would take it out on her.

Oops I forgot to mention at first rufus didn’t go for the stuffed bunny but then I slept with it in my bed for two nights so it smelled like me and he went straight for it. A little creepy but it works

That’s normal hormonal behaviour. Mako obviously smells the new bunny on you.

Yeah I figured as much. She quit for a while but she’s back at it tonight. I took one of the dog’s stuffed animals and threw it in here and while she hasn’t gone after it yet she did quit biting my feet. For now. Maybe I’ll throw it in with Waldo for a bit and see if that helps.
