Today I cleaned out Hugo’s cage and litter box, but he seems to have chosen his lifter box as his new sleeping area. Hugo is drinking and eating hay, but not eating his pellets. I’m not sure what to think of the situation besides be a bit worried. He also turned down his treats, but is still acting normal besides the things as stated before. Has anyone had this problem before?

If a bunny stops eating to the point where it won’t even take a treat, you should contact a vet within 6-12 hours. Is he eating any hay? Is he pooping?

When my Bam lies down in his litterbox, I know sth is off and I give him baby gasdrops (somethicone). It helps gascome out, and gas can cause a bun to stop eating, because it’s painful. You should try and make your bun move around, even if he doesn’t want to, because that too helps gas escape.

There are plenty of buns that like lounging in their litterboxes though, so it’s only a possible sign of sth being off in a bun if its a new place for it to lie down in.

With my buns, pellets have been the first thing they stop eating when they have had gas or the onset of GI stasis. Agree with bam, a vet visit is in order if he hasn’t perked up by new, and simethicone won’t hurt.
