        At a LOSS here….

        He just-just…just won’t do it!

It’s like he doesn’t care where he is when he pees….and he won’t get into the litter box at all (I think he’s scared of it-tried a few different litters…put nummy hay in there…then raisins-he got in it for raisins, then jumped out).

TBH I don’t care if he uses a box, or a pee pad or a towel or whatever….I just NEED him to go in one reliable place. I have NO idea what to try….guys? Any help? What would you do?

(Background: he’s 10, no health problems, never been litter trained even though the previous owner said he was-he also came with nail clippers and had nails about twice as long as he should….he’s not comfortable in a box, will pee wherever he is, facing whichever way he wants. Has no problem sleeping in pee even if a dry area is offered. He will ‘go’ on puppy pads and on blankies-but he’ll also go off them…)

Was he like this with Chuck? I don’t remember you saying Noot was peeing anywhere at all when Chuck was alive. What did he do then, if it was better?

Oh yeah he was like that with Chuck-checked at the vet all fine and spry for a senior…and that’s how it was-how do you litter train one of a pair…but now to mix him with Kahlua and Rupert and give him run of the whole room-well the flooring is already pretty stained and ugly from him…which is no problem-the look. But I’m in their every day cleaning just as much as before pretty much…yeah I don’t even know where to start. he’s fixed, but how do you undo ten years of bad habits? He doesn’t seem to care where he is or if it’s an absorbant surface (like Kahlua and Rupert will pee on towels-no biggie, but they’d never go on hard flooring and get their feeties wet…he will.

*shrugs* If it’s hopeless-no biggie, my back is already totally out and I’m just resigned to using icyhot every day lol-but I was hoping-maybe dreaming?-that I could train him to at least pee in one spot or on one thing-before putting him into the mix with the whole room

At the shelter was he in a cage with bedding all over the floor? I’m wondering if you’ve observed him in a small area without absorbant surfaces bar the litter box. Like in the cot with Chuck that has absorbant surface didn’t it? Was he surrendered with a cage? If so, did it have a wire floor?

Is there any pattern you can see? Does he pee mostly in specific areas? Like along boundaries, near food & water, next to litter box? I recall once you said he will pee while running. Is that a regular thing?

I feel for you. I don’t know if I confuse things more (in my situ with Jersey) by coming up with 100 reasons why she might do it. I hope I’m not doing that for you regarding Noot.

Nope-everybody had litter boxes, but because there were more rabbits there nobody was great with their litter box.

Was he surrendered with a cage? If so, did it have a wire floor?

That’s what is so crazy-he had a litter box and a flat plastic cage bottom…(but yeah he came with nail clippers and horrendous nails so I don’t put much stock in a litter box coming with him)
Before Chuck got sick they weren’t on an absorbant floor save the litter boxes and he just peed whereever *head shake*

Nope sadly noooo pattern-that’s what I’m really stuck with.
Yeah if you are putting down veggies and he’s in the middle of a pee, he’ll go to the veggie still peeing. Only twice, but he’s a food-shark.
He just seems to be like ‘lalala i feel like peeing’ and goes?

No-brainstorming is awesome I appreciate it
He was doing well-two days only peeing on the pad-and only having two to choose form-then today a pee spot on the floor

One thing someone suggest to me when I was 1st attempting to retrain Jersey was to put alot of boxes in their space. Like almost overwhelm them with boxes. So I did one in each corner and one in the middle of the space. In their first “lockdown” I did actually notice an improvement. Maybe something to try if you haven’t already? For Noot, perhaps low trays with some nommies on offer. Play into his weaknesses…hehe

Only thing is if he is now in with Kahlua and Rupert. Could this be detrimental to their litter habits?

Gosh K&K…the only thing that comes to mind at this point would be…a diaper. But it would have to be changed a lot. And if Chuck just went wherever, then Noot is probably pretty set in his ways. Litter change maybe? One of those boxes with the dropped side on one end?

I’m still having occasional probs with Mimzy peeing outside his box, but I think it’s mostly because I’m not getting up in time to clean it for him and he gets tired of waiting, because he moves his box out of the way, shoves his hay into the corner and pees on that. (Yucky to mop up afterward, but hey…at least it’s in the same spot.)
When I first brought Mimzy home, he lived outdoors in the BunGalow and would ONLY go outside on the grass in one spot. Can you gather some grass to put in one area to entice him to choose that over anything else? Something that smells of outdoors might entice him?

Has he completed bonding with Rupert yet? Maybe he and Kahlua can teach him better manners. (And yes, hopefully he won’t corrupt theirs!)

He’s not in with them yet-I was hoping to get a little bit of litter sensibility before putting them all in together. Kahlua the princess will not want pee all over the place

That’s what I was just thinking tonight-Getting a HUGE box and pretty much making it impossible for him to not be in the litter box-putting food and water in there-then move to a samller one and see what happens?

Well we’re just doing dates for company-no real bonding because they just sort of get along-I’m just hoping to get him slightly trained…what a weirdo
