how to train small bunny to use litter box when outside of cage

So i gather the poop and put it in the litter box to show it where it has to be but it doesnt seem to be having any effect and it started peeing on the carpet again. When its in the cage it uses the litter box but as soon as i open the cage its like the litter box doesn exist anymore, i tried putting it outside of the cage it goes in but it still actually poops and pees on the floor and not when its in the litter. I am getting desperate how can i teach it to use it?My sister also has a bun but hers never did that it always only used the litter

If your bunny isn’t neutered/spayed (is it a he or a she? you only say it) they won’t stick to litter training. Hormones make litter training next to impossible. What have you done to try to litter train them?

Its a female. She isnt spayed yet she is pretty young not even three months. As far as training goes at first she didnt go around the room but only in a small area around and inside the cage i put her litter in the corner of the cage that she seemed to prefer using and she didnt really mess outside of the cage in the beginning, when she is locked in the cage she only uses the litter for her business. Later when she started doing it on the carpet i tried to clean up asap and tell her no put the poop or urine soaked paper in her litter and put her in along with the it in her litter box but it doesnt seem to be helping and i cant remove the parket because the floor is wooden and she doesnt seem too comfortable on it

Again, she’s not spayed and still pretty young. She won’t really take to litter training too well until she’s been spayed. But in the meantime you can keep her hay and food dishes next to her litter box because most bunnies eat and poop at the same time. You can also try to keep her water near there too. Continue what you are doing with the wiping up of the pee and putting it in her box, and scooping the poops and putting them in her box. If you notice she’s about to pee outside the box, you can gently nudge her towards it. If you notice she pees in one corner (most bunnies find one corner and pick that) you can keep the box there. For some bunnies it may be necessary to have two boxes. But for the most part, it won’t get a whole ton better for a little bit. Honestly, like everything else with bunnies, litter training is all about patience. Some bunnies just take longer than others.

Its hard to know when she will do it because she doesnt give any signs and it almost always happens the moment i am not looking or paying attention to her only ones have i caught her in the act of doing it other times she just does it real quick while going around the room its usually a small amount of pee only once was there a bigger puddle but it wasnt on the carpet. Do you think if i roll up the carpet while she is out she will get used to the wooden floor? cause that would really make things a lot easier

The small amount of pee definitely sounds like hormones. If she’s less than 3 months old it’s also possible she was incorrectly sexed and she could be a male. Baby bunnies are often mis-sexed because they look similar down there until testicles drop. But the fact that she’s spraying so young makes me think she could possibly be a male because males usually mature quicker than girls.

You can try to have her on hardwood, but most bunnies don’t like it. It makes them slip and slide to much and it makes them rather nervous.
