My bunny is living with 2 other bunnies. One of them has given birth. All probably have ear mites and I am currently giving them ivermectin. My questions:
1.how to kill all the ear mites in the soil floor of the shed and the wood.
        2. Will the kits also have ear mites. When does this end?? It feels like i am fighting something impossible to eradicate.
Any answers are appreciated. Thank you.

First, they all need to be separated, except for the babies from mama. Those adult bunnies can seriously injure or kill the babies. Mama bunny can also get pregnant again right away, which can be very stressful on her. Bunnies can only be together have they have been spayed/neutered and gone through the proper bonding process.

To answer your initial question: deep cleaning the enclosure, litter boxes, and food/water dishes with bunny safe spray like Nature’s Miracle and warm water. Freeze all of their other items as well as this will kill any remaining mites.

Why do you suspect they have ear mites? Have you taken them to a vet? I think you should take them to one to be assessed before giving them the ivermectin.

I did get them to the vet, and he told me to use ivermectin. I do not have access to bunny safe spray, do you know of any other way?
            .
As for separating them, I did not do that because i did not want her to be all alone. Bunnies are social, so if I cant be with her, at least she has the other 2 bunnies.

I’m wondering if vinegar would work, but not 1000% sure on this at all. Just popped into my head.

If the bunnies are not spayed or neutered or bonded, its best to separate them for now. Mama bun could get pregnant again which is very stressful to her, and probably isn’t great for the litter she has now. Like A&B said.

If you’re worried about her being lonely without the other two with her, she will be just fine. Plus she has her babies with her.

Vinegar might work just as fine, but that only usually just gets rid of smells. My boys had regular mites and the only thing that stopped reinfestation was a thorough cleaning.

They can be very violent and aggressive towards each other if they have no been fixed and are just thrown together. Litters happen, and fights to the death can happen. Bunnies are social when they have been fixed. Before that all they want to do is breed and fight. Serious injuries have been known to occur. Testicles bitten off, parts of ears bitten, eyes scratched. It is incredibly dangerous. And just cause they’re fine together one minute doesn’t mean they will be 10 minutes from then. Litters are incredibly stressful on the mom and having too many could even kill her. And again, those older bunnies can kill those babies. They need to be separate.

Ok I agree. But then what about after the kits grow up??I cant keep them all separated from each other forever. Will the mother always be peaceful with her kits even after they have grown up? I dont think so. So what is the solution?

As for the disenfecting I had planned to move them to a new location temporarily until the mites die on their own, but now I cant since I can’t move the mother. Vinegar wont work.

If I am being honest here, they are not my bunnies strictly speaking, they are my parents bunnies. I am in high school. Due to this sites regulations I wont be able to go into detail, but in short, I can’t get them spayed. I thought about separating all the males from the females in the future, but it is almost impossible to pick them up and find out their sex when they are young. Extremely stressful for both them and me. So I have to wait until they mature and have gotten a bit more used to me, but by then a new pregnancy would have happened and the cycle repeats. Their numbers get so great that eventually a disease spreads and results in 98 percent of them dying. I know this because it has already happened once, and i was powerless to stop it. They live in such bad conditions that it is killing me. I dont want anymore pregnancies to happen but dont know how to stop it. I am just tired. We have no shelters nor organizations. I have not heard nor met anyone in this country that takes a bunny as a pet. The most I could do for them was make sure they got the ivermectin and delay/prevent their death (since they are m*** rabbits).

So in a nutshell I cant Give them better conditions, cant stop pregnancies, cant give them to anyone and I am not even sure how long i can keep them alive.

If you have read this thank you. And sorry for the pointless rant.

This is a very sad situation.

Have you tried talking to your parents? Do they know how emotionally attached you are to these bunnies and how much this is upsetting you? Any chance they will change things?

Sorry for the late reply. Not sure what you mean by talk to them, dont see how they can help here. Perhaps you are talking about a previous post of mine, then the answer is yes I have talked to them. Talk is putting it mildly really. I dont want to ask them for anything anymore. If only you knew half the story, you would know that talking to them is the most pointless thing i could possibly do. Still I do it. Out of sheer desperation.

Thank you for your reply and concern.
