I adopted my bunny two weeks ago from a shelter. He is five months old, and I was wondering when I should take him in for a vet check-up. He was previously in a foster home so I’m sure he was sufficiently cared for. He is already neutered and microchipped, but I’m just wondering how soon I should bring him in for a vet check?

          Hey!
Has your bunny been to the vets before? Do you have any concerns? I suggest if you have no concerns with your bun that you don’t necessarily need to take a visit to the vets, unless they haven’t had their annual jabs that they need. Hope this helps 🙂

It’s recommended you take a young rabbit for a checkup once per year, for older buns every 6-12 months. Since Louie was in a shelter and he was likely neutered there (?) he would have had his health assessed and a y medical issue seen to by the vet that the shelter uses.

ok, yes, he was neutered while in the shelter when he was young, so he has been to the vet, but it was several months ago. If he doesn’t present any health concerns anytime soon, I’ll most likely just take him after he hits about one year.

                That is very smart!
