How old is your rabbit and does it still do binkies?

I have 3 rabbits, ages 3, 4 1/2, and 7 and none of them do binkies anymore. They used to when they were caged and I would let them out for playtime, but since they have been uncaged all the time now, they don’t do binkies.  I am not sure if it’s an age thing, or if it’s because they don’t get that burst of excitement anymore, or if they are just fat and lazy….

I am curious and want to know about your bunnies….Are they doing binkies? And any other details that go along with it, such as age, free time, etc…

10 months and 4 years and yes they still do binkies, but just when I let them out to play. It’s probably because they are free run more than age.

My oldest is 2 years, and she still binkies The other 3 do as well, Moose binkies for pellets, its cute

Mine don’t binky as much as they used to when they were young, but I still see some on occasion.

Mine are 7 and 6 months old, they binky several times a day. They both binky for some reason whenever I clean their litter boxes. Totoro almost always binkies after seeing one of the cats and Wilbur does them on her Maze Haven hahah. My Bridge bunny was 2-3 years old (and had cancer) and he would still binky every so often. I think it really depends on the rabbit.

Huckles never did binky all that much. Mostly she does it if its dinner time or there is company to impress but she is almost 2 and I still catch a few from time to time.

Hodari is eleven months. She does binky but not a whole lot. It’s usually at the end of the day for some reason. She’ll sometimes do them when she sees me getting a treat for her, or when she is starting to get bored with knocking over the garbage can, which is her new favorite activity. Ha, ha. Lately she’s been doing them when I show her her treat ball. She does more “head binkies” than big, twist in the air binkies, though.

Aw, all of your buns sound so cute. I love to see them binky or do the bunny 500. I wish mine would do them…I miss it. I guess I will just have to be satisfied with my guinea pig “Foster” popcorning….

My eldest is 10 and he doesnt binky anymore. Maian doesnt either but she cant run anywhere because she cant see, but all my others, aged 6 months to 3 years, all still do binkies, either at feed time, or when we let them out and they start running on the grass or the dirt. I think they like the feel under their feet

Mine is probably 4-5 years old, not really sure since he was rescued off the street. He now does small binkies when he plays chase and once in a while a large one. Not as many or as big as he used to, but he still does them!

Domino never really has before (no, I’m serious. Not even when she was younger), but Nava loves to. I haven’t seen her do it in a few months but when she gets hyper she does them like crazy.

Nava is about 8 and Domino is about 7.

I guess I am going to have to do something to get them super excited….lol It’s so great to talk with others about bunnies. No one around me understands the love I have for them. They say, “they’re just rabbits”. They just don’t get it.

Wooly does mostly, Leopold not so much. Both are between 1 and 2 years old, just a few months difference between them.

3 Buns mom: I haven’t really met any one who thought mine were “just rabbits” because Rabbits as pets are a fairly new idea around me, so my friends think they are just odd pets because they didn’t really think about them as pets before. My mom for a while thought a rabbits just a rabbit though. I slowly converted her to think other wise.

I get the “Their just rats” thing about my rats all the time though. I had about 25-30 rats all together in my life time; never once did I have a rat that had the same personality/quirks as another rat I met/owned. :/ Animals are individual and it upsets me that people still till this day don’t think so.

One Bun, he is almost 7 months old, he does at least two binkies each day, He is always filled with happiness!!!

Mine binky once in a while – I see more bunny 500s with a quick kick thrown up than huge binkies. Mine are almost 3 and almost 5. Otto has always been lazy so I’ve never seen many out of him. Hannah is very active, but she does more running than binkying.

about 8 months, he binkies until he tires himself out when he is out of the cage. His favorite thing is to jump in the air and kick a wall, which sends him into a binky frenzy around the apartment, then after a complete loop, does it again. My poor walls =S

When Sammy grew to full adulthood she nearly stopped doing binkies altogether, certainly not as many as during her first year.
Then, at age 2 1/2, we moved to this place. It has a burbury type carpet in two rooms and a connecting hall that I worried about her nibbling. Well, she never eats it, but started doing a whole bunch of binkies! The change for her was exciting, and possibly the better grip under her feet.

Maybe if you have an area rug that would give them some good traction, it might be a welcome change that will get some binkies. I think it’s a combo of age, weight, footing and change. But don’t worry if they don’t do it much anymore. Adults seem to do less in general.

Bunsen, who I had from when he was 4 until he passed away at 6, never did a binky. He preferred to flop. He was always out of his cage as he was allowed to roam freely, but I don’t think it meant that he wasn’t happy. I just think he was a low-key guy.

Cotton is 4.   After his lip finally got the right treatment and healed  he did binkies all over.    Now that he has snuffles he doesn’t  but I bet he will when he gets well from that snuffles.

Seems he was so happy his lip healed and quit bothering him.   He just binkied all over.  What is funny is  when he stopped he would stare at us til we noticed and cheered him on     lol.

Glad to know my buns aren’t the only ones who don’t binky. Although tonight, Gus, my 7 year old Dwarf was running all around the living room. He seemed soooo happy! I haven’t seen him do that in years. He was the one that I almost lost to bloat a few weeks ago. All I can say is it was great seeing some energy in him.

At the humane society here, we have rabbits of all ages, and when they get their daily exercise time, I see binkies from all of them, including the ones 6 years and older

That is awesome that they give the buns daily exercise time! I know most places don’t do that. I had to stop going to the shelters because I kept coming home with more pets. I would love more, but can’t afford any more right now….but someday!

Mini is 4 months and BunDude is well, i’m not too sure on her age but I’ve had her now for 4 years, so i’d say she is about 5 or 6? They both do, sometimes in sync lol. I love capturing it on video 😀

Not sure how old my girl is, but she is free roaming and she binkies when I wake up in the morning cause she knows it’s veggie time. Every now and then during the day I see it but otherwise, it’s only first thing in the mornings.

I knew poor Humphrey (probably at least 6– rescued from somewhere in the woods at an unknown age, but I’ve had him for four years and he was an adult when they found him) was feeling better when he binkied again yesterday. He’s a big fat gettin’-up-there-in-age bunny but when he comes out to play he always does a bunch of BIG, high-flying binkies. Otis (age completely unknown– rescued off the side of the road) does not binky, but he’s completely blind, so… y’know. He smashes into enough stuff as it is.

So yeah, it’s probably that they’re free range, not their ages. : )
