I just got my little baby 5 days ago and after about a day I realized he wasn’t really drinking out of the water container (one of those containers with the ball at the end), but that is the kind he was using previously so I figured that would be the best transition into my home.  Then while he was drinking one day I squeezed the bottle to increase water output and he drank like crazy!  I decided to get him a bowl, a small one (5oz) and he will drink it all within a few hours.. I fill it about 3-4x a day.  But I feel like that is a ton for a young bun (2.5months) to drink!  Upon drinking so much his appetite has increased (downing hay and pellets, I think doubled his size in a week!).. I know he is growing and was probably malnourished dehydrated in his previous home.. but I don’t want him flushing out his electrolytes and dying from a heart arrythmia (can you tell I am a nurse? LOL).  He seems fine, but.. *worry*  So.. how much is too much water?  What is the right amount?

Rabbits will stop eating if they aren’t getting water so I suppose the fact that he gets plenty now just made him eat like a normal growing bun.
15 or 20 oz of water isn’t too much water at all.
The sippy bottles frustrate some bunnies, you did the right thing switching to a bowl.

Lilly my baby bun also drinks and eats like crazy .He is about 11 to 12  weeks old I think .Seems like everytime I turn around he has his head in he pellet dish and hay  or lapping up water I just chalk it up to he is a growing bun .I have taken to calling him Mr.Piggy lol instead of Marshmallow. I would supose it would be more worrysome if they were not drinking and eating but its good to hear that my baby is doing what yours is. Ahh to be young and eat all you want again
