Just reading through some of the topics, a couple of things struck me, that as a novice I really don’t know!

I thought that lettuce was bad for bunnies? But most of you feed it, so I guess it is OK.

Harri-bun is quite a large rabbit (not a giant) and I give her a couple of cabbage leaves, or a couple of pieces of kale, a bit of parsley or whatever I have in, in the morning, the ocassion treat (she loves carrot and fruit flavoured ones) throughout the day and some more greens with a top up of her dried food in the evening.

She isn’t fat, was around 3.2Kg when she was last weighed, but that was a couple of months ago.

So do you give a whole lettuce? All at once? I’m wondering if I’m starving her

The only lettuce you don’t want to feed is iceburg; Green, red, romaine etc. are all good. Your bunny doesn’t sound starved to me She gets pellets and hay too right?

I have this listed printed and I keep it in my purse for when I am grocery shopping-  My bunnies get about 2- 2 1/2 cups of veggies in their “salad”- I try to have at least 3 different ingredients.  I just shopped yesterday so they are at the end of last weeks ingredients and have some new for this week- today they got romaine, turnip greens, snow peas, brocolli and alfalfa sprouts.  I buy romaine every week for their salads and for us to eat too- and I rotate the other ingredients based on what looks freshest at the store

I should also mention that when I do add new things often the buns will ignore them- but I keep giving them every day for that week and usually by the 3rd day or so they are at least nibbling the new offering or outright eating it.  Today was the first day for alfalfa sprouts and Penny and Cotton did not eat all of their salad right away because they are on top of the salad, but Schroeder was found on the street before I adopted him from the Humane Society- nothing deters him from eating all his salad right away.  Even if he excludes a veggie- he will eat around it or move it.

I’ve taken to buying packages of “Spring Greens,” which are mostly a combination of different leaves of lettuce (no iceberg!).  This isn’t one of those plastic bag mixes, but it’s a plastic box-like container that’s shelved with the rest of the veggies.  I like this because it’s easier for me to serve and offers more variety than buying just a head of lettuce.  I add 2-3 other veggies into the mix to round off the daily salad.  More expensive, of course, but my bunny is worth it.

Thank you all for these suggestions, I have printed the list and shall certainly keep it with me while shopping!
There are quite a few things I’ve never heard of, but perhaps that’s due to different parts of the world and different names for things.
I am glad to see parsley on the list as a good one as Harri loves both kinds, especially if they are in plant pots! But I have been giving her cabbage, which I will stop doing now.
And I can shop for lettuce now too – yipee!

And a PS, yes Harri gets pellets and hay – which she doesn’t seem to bother with no matter what kind I try her with
Maybe when she’s had her teeth filed she’ll give it more of a go,

I don’t think a bit of cabbage would be that bad. If she’s handled it ok before, she likely will again. Just keep it limited and watch for gas. If you reduce her pellets, she may take to eating hay more to fill up. Pellets are fairly rich. I’ve done this but am sad to report my rabbits hay eating has not increased – grrr!

I too printed the list of food out from the ‘Diet’ section of this site. I laminated it and keep it in my car so every time I go shopping, I have it handy and can pick a variety of veggies that are good for my girl. Last night Lily had kale for the first time and she loved it!!
