As someone suggested, I thought this would make a good poll.  Vote on how much hay your bun eats per day!

Also if you could include the breed (or size if you don’t know the breed) of your rabbit, and what consists of their diet (pellet amount and greens amount per day), that’d probably help too!

And don’t forget, this is for ONE BUNNY!  If you have multiple buns, divide your amount up so it’s just for ONE of your buns!

I picked the large handful.. and that’s for little miss Monkey. She is a hay-aholic I tell you. She also gets a little pile of greens, consisting of romaine, green leaf, cilantro, basil, carrot tops, and now a bit of spinach too. Plus a bit of pellets at night She is so active that there is no way she’s getting chubby either! Crazy girl.

            Breed: Netherland dwarf

            Pellets: 1/8 cup

            Greens: 1.5 cups per day

I’ll start with my diet info!

              Breed: Mini Lop

Pellet Amount: 1/3 cup Timothy Complete

Greens Amount: If I had to guess, 4-5 cups a day.

I picked a large handful for each of my buns, but it could be more like a medium handful 😛

They each get less than 1/4c pellets (somewhere between 1/4 and 1/8) and about 2.5c greens.

I also notice they eat a lot more hay when it’s all timothy. They don’t seem too excited by the other choices I buy and will eat less.

Yeah Zeus is on a mix hay that’s I’d say mostly orchard grass, and maybe a bit of bermuda in there too.  He prefers timothy hay, but I get the orchard/bermuda for free, so he has to deal with it.  He gets timothy cubes as snacks instead.

                      Breed: Netherland Dwarf

Pellet Amount: Less than half a cup (currently working on decreasing)

Greens Amount: 3-4 cups. She gets Romaine, Cilantro, Parsley. Noticed that she LOVES LOVES LOVES Red Leaf, but it just doesn’t stay as fresh as Romaine. Blah.

My bun gets about 2 handfuls a day. It usually needs filling by the next day. She gets hay in her tissue box, her litter box, and willow basket.

                          this is a good survery.

Cotton is 3.6 lbs oz             lion head/dutch mi

Ruby is 3.8 or 4.8 I forget    purebred lionhead

They get 1/4 cup of pellets a day.   They used to get 1/2 a cup but since I decreased it they eat a lot more hay which is good.

                            Three handfuls.

Tank, who the shelter told me is a Havana, but looks “rexy”. xD

Leroy (5 lb rex) and Jeannie (2 lb dwarf hotot)

Pellets: None… Leroy has gained some weight, so aside from using the pellets as treats, they don’t get a daily ration.
                              Greens: 2-3 cups each
Hay: They are both BIG hay eaters. They have two litter boxes in their crate and then two in their play area. Each litter box serving is a large handful. I refill the boxes in their play area once a day, sometimes once every other day, and I refill the boxes in their crate usually 3 times a day… meaning 6+ large hanfuls a day for them together. I actually can’t keep up with their hay demands, often, by the time I get around to giving them new hay, all that’s left are the really hard stalky bits of the hay that no one likes, lol.

i’m kinda with you on this one, Barbie. Haha. If I was more observant, Tank (alone xD) might be a 6 handful bun.

An armful is what I voted-My buns are all hay piggies. They eat tonnes and then their hay cubes. Veggies next, pellets last I guess Probably less hay in the summer since I come in with dandelions and apple branches every day It’s honestly savage how much hay they eat lol
