I am building a rabbit condo which has three floors, each one 6 ft x 3 ft, so 18 sq ft per floor. Just wondering how many rabbits I would be able to fit in this condo, someone told me six, but I would think more like 4. They would also have a large exercise run outside, which is at least >28 ft, and I could extend it, my rabbit usually spends 2-3 hours outside.

I’m more leaning towards saying one or two at most— if someone said up to six, I think they have the mindset of a breeder, or someone who keeps rabbits, rather than raising them as pets. A single rabbit requires a LOT of room to thrive if they will be locked in a condo for such a long period of time. Do not go over 2 rabbits, and also keep in mind rabbits absolutely cannot be housed together until they are all spayed/neutered and they go through the proper bonding process (which requires separate cages for each rabbit).

Rabbits need to run around, so while you can physically fit multiple rabbits in that condo, they won’t be able to run around. Rabbits are typically small, but pretend they’re dogs that are small— you wouldn’t want to stuff 6 dogs into that condo. Rabbits need the same, if not MORE running room than a dog.

Is each individual floor a separate cage or are all the levels joined together as one big cage? If one big cage I would say 3, maybe 4 depending on what size buns you’re looking at. For netherland dwarf or similar size I’d think 4 would be fine. If you’re looking at a giant breed, I would say 2 would be the max. But for medium sized buns certainly 3 would be comfortable I should think
