Just curious how many bunnies everyone has. I’ve noticied some people seem to have a full house, and it seems a lot of you have at least two. If you do have multiple bunnies, was that your plan when you started or just the progression of things?

I just have Gizmo and since we already have the two rotten kitties and live in an apartment, he’ll just have to be a lone bunny for now.

I just have one bun, a cat & a dog.  My hopes are that they will be one big happy family, which I think is coming but very slowly.  I would love to have more buns but I’m too chicken to go through the bonding thing right now plus Edson is so happy why rock the boat!

I have two bunnies. My plan was just one, but of course, how can you resist more! I am working on my bf to allow me a third… I don’t want to be unreasonable in the amount of animals i can look after so the plan is once we have our own house I plan on having three bonded pairs/trios. I think that is enough work and probably enough cuteness!

i have one bun and one dog who are – ahem – close friends.  baby bun thinks bogart is just a big rabbit for her to dominate.  since baby is 7yrs old & was not spayed so i don’t think it’s a good idea to try to bond a second bun into the household.  i really debated this for a while since i could house a second bun separately & give them split ‘free time’.  i may be voluteering at my local shelter soon (waiting for them to need another volunteer) & it wouldn’t surprise me a whole lot if this happened eventually

I have two bunnies. Of course it started with one. I found a very shy but beautiful Holland Lop girl in need of a home so I got her. I was completely satisfied until I did a bunch of research about bunnies and how they are social and happier with another bunny and such. So, six weeks later, we have Simon!  I’m not even going to go into my other animals, let’s just say, my house is a zoo!!!  Maybe I should start charging a fee for people to come over!

my initial goal was to get a bonded pair, but it didn’t end up working that way.  so it’s just Meadow.

i would want to bond her, but my house is not large at all, so i’m not sure i could (or would want to) keep a separate rabbit set-up in case the bonding did not work out.  i also wouldn’t want to limit Meadow’s out time either if they had to have separate run.

the other thing is that Meadow is becoming a snuggly, cuddly lap bun.  i know this is very selfish of me, but i am so enjoying my time with her, that i don’t want to have to share her at this point.  she comes to both my husband and myself for snuggles, and i worry that behavior would stop if she were bonded.

i may still bond her at some point in the future.  but not right now.

I have three buns.  A bonded pair and a single.  Hopefully, someday, it will be a bonded trio.  I also have a dog and cat.  The buns are so cute and just contagious.  If the "trio" doesn’t work out, we will adopt a 4th and have two bonded pairs.

I have two bunnies and four cats. My bunnies started out as just Henri but then I couldn’t say no when someone was looking for a home for my Acorn!

We have 2. Just one to start and then I saw Riley at the pound and took him in. If everything goes well we plan on starting a rabbit rescue for this area in a couple years.

I have 4 now. I have wanted bunnies for years and years, but finally was in a position to get one about 5 years ago (she was a lop mix breed, lop ears but very big, broken-black/white!). She bonded so well to me and would follow me everywhere so we didn’t bother trying to bond her with another bunny. She was always at my side. When she was 2 I had read about and wanted a lion head for a year! It took that long for me to find a breeder close by. They had 2 left, a brother/sister pair so I took both thinking they could have one another if they didn’t bond with the one I had at home. A few months later my first passed away with liver disease that had gone undiagnosed. I didn’t think I’d ever want another bunny or the ones I had as it devastated me to lose her as well as not know she was sick no matter how well I had taken care of her. Within a month a friend dropped by with a “gift” of a lion head. So then I had 3 lion head bunnies. They bonded eventually (as it was a boy, so I had 1 girl and 2 boys.. that takes some struggle! lol). Then a few months later, still in pain over the first bunny, I was browsing bunny rescue sites and happened across one that just caught my heart. Something in how it looked, the way her eyes looked, I knew I needed to find her. It was a 5 hour drive to get her, but I made the trip. The lady that was keeping her worked at the rescue and they had never taken bunnies before. She let this bunny out for me to see and when the bunny tried to hop her back leg wouldn’t move and she’d fall. The lady would PUSH the bunny back up with her FOOT which outraged me in itself! She was a vet tech and she didn’t realize this bunny was in pain. The bunny was grinding its teeth so hard I can’t imagine her not knowing it was in horrific pain! I rushed her home and to my vet asap. The vet noted she had bad back issues that caused the leg problem and pain and we treated her. It took a while but she regained full use of her back leg. I keep her grounded with no places to jump, tho she has had some fall backs due to over hopping in excitement. I have her in a small area so she doesn’t do this as once last summer she was fully paralyzed by pain for a good 2 months. The vet wanted to put her to sleep at that time, but I couldn’t. The bunny was happy; as long as she was medicated she was in no pain and she still enjoyed playing with me and ate hardily. I couldn’t believe she was ready to let go of her life, so I was willing to adjust and carry her every place and keep her clean as she couldn’t get up to potty. After those 2 hard months she got better! I was beside myself with joy!!! She’s been my baby since the day I met her and stays in my room so I can keep watch on her as I spend a lot of time in there. She was so timid and afraid when she came to live with us, but has sense shown such great sweet personality! She’s dainty and enchanting. =) The other bunnies have a very nice home-built condo in the dining room so they can enjoy the family as they go about their day and an enclosed deck to play on when the weather is nice =) I don’t have any other pets (unless you count my 2 kids , and often wish I had a much bigger place as I feel sure I’d have a whole house full of bunnies if I did!! They just steal my heart!

Wow this got long … sorry lol

We have 3 bunnies, they were born feral and were about 5 -6 months old when we rescued them from a business park on November 6th.   They were born under the front step walkway of an office building.  Two brothers, Tancill and Bammer, and their little sister Misha.

My avatar shows Tancill in the den they were living in.  We hadn’t planned on having any pets, but we were not going to let these babies die by hawks, owls, off leash dogs, or under a car tire which would have been their fate.

They are now our "children"      And like children they become teenagers and the hormones kicked in so they had to be separated, last Wednesday they were spay/neutered and in about 3 weeks we will try to rebond them.

The first pic is the day we rescued them, and the second pic was taken about 4 weeks ago.

                                  I have 4 buns…

Yuuki; almost 6 month old purebred male Lionhead
Kibou: almost 5 month old purebred female Lionhead
Smile: 4 1/2 month old purebred Holland Lop female
Rye: 4 1/2 month old purebred Holland Lop male

I originally got Yuuki, this past August 30th, and I fell in love with Lionheads, so I bought Kibou on October 3rd or so, then the Lop pair at the end of October!
                                  Don’t regret it a second!

suzi & skwerly – what sweet stories! I remember the skewrly buns sad story ;( I’m so glad to hear they’ve been spayed and neutered and are getting all ready for their nice safe indoor home. And I’m glad to hear that Suzi’s bun is feeling better after so much difficulty with her leg.

I myself have 7 bunnies – I HAD one, then at an adoption show I got suckered into taking in a bunny that someone had dumped and was going to have to go to the pound my existing bunny promptly fell in love with him! so then I had two. THEN there was this bunny that was at the rescue I worked at and this other bunny had peed all over him, and he was in an eeety beety cage and I felt so bad that I took him home to “foster” and get him cleaned up. Took me two months to clean him up – then I was attached! Then Grace – because I’d allllways wanted a special needs bunny, and she is blind so when she got dumped at the rescue I took her in. THEN I moved in with the BF who has 3 rescue buns – so now we’re a big happy bunny family

We’ve got 4 bunnies. I’ve always liked bunnies and had wanted one for a while, hubby and I had talked about it and decided that yes when the time was right we’d get a bunny. Well the time apparently was right when we were in PetCetera one day. There were a few bunnies in a cage and one of them immediately caught my eye. We asked to be able to hold him and he was just so soft and cuddly and we both immediately fell in love with him. Hubby said “You want him, don’t you?” and that was that. After a while we decided that we wanted to get a companion for him (we tried the cat as a companion but he’s afraid of Bailey) and we adopted Reno from the shelter. A few months later the shelter had a litter of baby bunnies up for adoption, and we both totally fell for the runt of the litter, a cute little black bunny that was about half the size of his littermates that we named Keiran. Unfortunately Keiran was only with us a few days before he died. We’d alerted the shelter to the fact that we didn’t think he was doing well, and they were shocked when he died. A few weeks later they had another litter available for adoption and they gave us one from that litter (our mischievous little Aeryn). Tegan, our 4th, was a pet-store impulse buy, kind of. We saw her in the store and she just was so sweet and such a little puffball, that we knew we had to have her. And being right around Easter we figured that we’d much rather she end up with us than as an Easter gift to a child that would likely end up ignoring her. We were actually out of town at the time, visiting relatives, and had to make arrangements with the airline to bring her back with us. We actually did that right at the pet store, before we finalized the deal.

This is defiantly it for me as I get older it gets harder.

But I do love them all like they are my babies.

                                          I have 2 little troublemakers.

I started with my Mini-Rex who I immediately fell totally in love with! Then I started having a fondness for lops. I told my boyfriend I needed to have 1 of each: 1 straight ear and 1 lop! It worked!! I actually had 2 lops previous to the one I have now but unfortunetly they both died before their time, quite young

I also have one straight eared and one lop. Gus and Helen. They are just about the sweetest things, even when Helen is getting into trouble!
I have also been looking into becoming a foster mom to one of the buns at the shelter I volunteer at. Although after reading about some foster stories I worry I will fall in love and then there will be three.

Just as I thought…the cuteness gets to you and you can’t help yourself, lol. I’m constantly amazed at how darn adorable Gizmo is. Even when he does something naughty, it’s cute. I have to avoid anywhere that I may become tempted to adopt more (there’s only so much we can push the apartment’s rules on pets!).

Suzi – what a great rescue story. I can’t believe a vet tech would treat an animal that way, even if she didn’t have experience with that particular type of animal! It also amazes me how quickly vets will suggest putting down an animal. I guess a lot of people just don’t want to deal with a “special” animal. I have a special kitty that suffered sudden paralysis of the hind quarters about a year and a half ago and the emergency vet told us to put him down. That was my baby though, so we refused and took him on home. We made him a bed where he would be comfortable and had to hand feed, carry him to the box, manually depress his bladder, the works. We researched kitty wheelchairs and took him to specialists at the vet school. As luck would have it he was put on some antibiotics (for lack of better course of action since they couldn’t figure out what was wrong) and suddenly he started getting better, stretching his legs and whatnot. I asked the vet for more, and while they didn’t think antibiotics could possibly do anything, they agreed. Within no time he was walking a few steps and next thing we knew he was all over the place. Today Kazi is a happy, healthy, fully-functioning kitty! Never did figure out what happened, but haven’t had any issues is nearly a year, so we’re crossing our fingers that whatever it was is gone. It still makes me mad though to think about that emergency vet who wanted to put my kitty down right there on the spot!

We had to take him over to her place while we moved and she tried letting them play, hoping maybe they would still get along….yeah, not so much! Pongo was trying to get a little too friendly with Gizmo, ha ha. Won’t be making that mistake again!

I have one ratbag bunny, Luey, who I rescued.  He was dumped by the previous owners at a breeder’s house.  I heard from a work colleague that he was in need of a good home, so as I had just previously lost my bunny, Lily, I took him in.  Its been hard work!

I also have two guinea pigs (Tyson who is 5 and Micky who is 18 months) … both live inside.

And last but not least one goldfish (Sparkle) … he’s about 3 yrs old now.

2 Lionhead buns. My favourite boy Brian Bumstar & his partner in crime Bettie Bean, who has suddenly taken it upon herself to get up on the bed in the middle of the night, flake out right by head, with her enormous fluffy bum in the direction of my face, licking my arm to wake me up so i HAVE to pay her attention. Hi I got my first bun two yrs ago a holland lop named Buster Brown pet store bunny. I didn’t know about rescues then. And next was my pretty little lionhead boy Zoey Garcia. I have lost both of them my heart still breaks talking about them. Now I have my@yr old holland lop Ziggy Marley and my Silver Marten/ Netherland Darwf Princess Zelda. They have made my life so complete.
