        Hey everyone,

I just joined this forum because I am going out of my mind with worry about my little girl and I don’t have anyone to talk to. I brought my girl into the vet five days ago because she hadn’t eaten in a day. They diagnosed her with Gi stasis, but they said this would take even longer to recover from because most of the gas was in her caecum. It’s been six days now (five days on meds) and she hasn’t pooped… Im so distraught, thinking she’s going to die. I’m not ready to say goodbye. Have you ever heard of a bunny not pooping in six days? How long have your rabbits taken to poop?

She ate a lot two days ago and I think it made her feel sick. I’ve had to force feed her since then.

              Sending many {{{vibes}}}!

Did they take an xray at the vet?
If their isn’t an obstruction, I wonder if they could do an enema?

Is she on a pain med? It is very important to have, but some can effect appetite, so if she’s sensitive, trying another might help.

Hey everyone, thank you for your support. They took an xray and there was no obstruction. She just has a serious case of gi stasis that progressed lightning fast this time. This morning, she finally pooped after 6 days! I cried happy tears! Three little pellets and a large long poop the size of a beetle (kinda gross, haha), but I’m glad they’re finally coming out of her!!! I hope she can keep it up. Now I see her straining in her litterbox. I’m guessing she’s trying to push more poops out. We may go back to the vet tomorrow for a check up. The vet said it could be a longer recovery for her.

                  Yay! That’s good news!

If there’s no blockage, then it isn’t unusual for it to take awhile to see poop again. When you think about it, it makes sense. Their digestive system becomes empty because nothing is going in anymore. So when food does start going in again, it will take it awhile to reach the other end so there is a delay.

True, but I would think her plumbing would be pretty clogged after almost a week of not pooping… I have been force feeding her since day one.

Well, you said there was a big blob that came out. Maybe there will be more?

Hey everyone! Just wanted to update you and let you know that Bun is doing much better. However, it took her six days to pass any poop at all, and 10 days to pass the rest. It was quite a mess, but I am glad it is out of her. She seems to have regulated 14 days after the initial incident…. What a horrible experience! Thank you for your support.

Thanks you guys! At least my experience is on the forum if this happens to another bunny mom. They will be spared some of the distress I felt!
