I’m out and I need to get some. Will my bunny be okay on just veggies and pellets until the order I placed here arrives? I don’t want to go to the pet store and get some different hay to tie her over because I know any change in types of feed can cause digestive issues? So which is worse, strange hay, or no hay?

Strange hay. Hay is literally 95% of the rabbit diet and it is essential to have daily.

          What brand do you use?

I switch between Kaytee (Orchard) and Oxbow. My bunny can’t tell the difference, as long as it is soft and nice, she’ll eat it.
I would buy a bag from the pet store until your package arrives.

Definitely go buy some, bunnies should never be without an unlimited supply of hay

Change in feed can upset a bunny’s GI, but as long as you go with another grass hay, it would be similar enough to be a safe choice. You definitely need some kind of hay to tide her over.

If you have the petsmart/petco member card or whatever they call it (it’s free) they usually have sales for a couple dollars off medium sized bags of hay with 3-4 variates. The larger Walmarts also have a pet section where they sell Kaytee hay, which my bunny likes, also. Kaytee and Oxbow are also what my bun eats.

Okay, I took a shopping trip today. I don’t have a car but I live right in town and there is a great little pet shop about a miles journey from my house. I prefer to support them rather than big chains like Wal-Mart and Petsmart/Petco. After getting a few things at the pet shop, I walked across the street to the grocery store. Anyway, I came home laden with bags. I got her some paper based pelleted litter, timothy hay, pellets, bok choy, alfalfa sprouts, and kale. She’s a happy bun.

Wow carrying around litter for that long, must have been hard!

The litter was the worst part.

Have you thought about getting one of those little foldable push carts for shopping bags? Probably not the most stylish thing, but it might be helpful for bunny supply trips… ;o)
