One is 10 minutes away.  Another one makes house calls! We are very lucky!

I remember looking for a bunny vet when I wanted to get Vicky spayed and the first one I called to schedule with told me to fast her the night before(!). I told them to cancel the appointment and to learn more about rabbit physiology before they hurt someone’s pet. Then I knew I needed to do way more in-depth research before I handed over my baby to supposed experts! I consulted with HRS and the Humane Society and was able to find a really good one (STAHLS in Northern Virginia).

I am lucky too. We live about 5 minutes from Adobe Animal Hospital. I end up doing a lot of overnights for the rescue because animals need to be there by 8 AM for surgeries, and it is easy for me to get there that early.

Mine is about 20 minutes away from home depending on traffic and 5 minutes from work. Lagomorpheus I sometimes find that the receptionists don’t always know that even at my vet if they are new – I admit it has been a long time since anyone there has given me that info when I call – they know me when I call so I don’t get the before appointment info but I do wonder since the vet’s office has moved across the street and expanded and they have new front desk staff what they tell rabbit patients since I do refer people to them. Of course I usually give my referrals who don’t have rabbit experience all the information on what to expect and what to do pre and post surgery.

my vet is (according to mapquest) 10 minutes away and 7.18 miles.  i live at the far east end of my city, the vet is at the far west end.  i got her name from my local HRS website and i’m very happy with her.  in fact i’m going there shortly.  it’s nail trim time again.

something i liked right away about my vet was at the first check-up visit, she alerted me to some things that might become issues later on.  she mentioned that Meadow had mildly sore hocks and that she had excess saliva that could indicate teeth problems.  the vet also recommended that i go to the HRS website.  i had, of course, already been on it, but i appreciated that she wanted me to better educate myself.  that made me confident that she was also following the HRS methods.

my vet is only 10 or 15 mins away depending on traffic.  my friend’s neighbor who – according to my friend – is a very good bunny slave, recommended her.  as it turned out, she’s another friend of mine’s vet too and grew up in the same neighborhood as i did.  she’s listed on ontariorabbits.org as a rabbit savvy vet and came highly recommended by all.  i could immediately understand why when i first met her.  she was so sweet with baby and also gave me a lot of info to take home regarding rabbit care which matched what i found online.  i’m very lucky to have found her!

About 30 minutes by bus, or 10 by car.  She’s an excellent exotics vet – she is the one that the shelter uses (so they already had a file on Pepper) and about half her staff have bunnies of their own.  AND her clinic shares a building with Animal 911 for emergencies.  Luckily I have never had one.

The ONLY rabbit specialist in my COUNTY is 5 minutes away. The only crazy thing is that we’ll be moving and will be 40min away from her and she actually used to work in an office close to where we’ll be moving too (which is the office I used to go to but when I had dogs and not a bunny, go figure right?!) But we’ll still do the comute since the buns health is more important and plus they are the only supplier we know of of Oxbox.
