Is it better using my hands, comb, or any other option?

I recommend a Hairbuster comb, used gently in the direction their coat grows, (front to back) or even a soft cat brush. They don’t need combing as often as other breeds, but when they are shedding, a couple of times a day really helps them get through it and not swallow fur. I had a mini rex and he shed quite a bit about 4x a year. They get these tufts that sort of come off in your hands in little clumps. Don’t pluck them, but they will come off like dandelions when they’re ready.

I haven’t ever really brushed my bunny’s bellies. Just maybe once in awhile if it’s a heavy shed, but they can usually keep that area clean themselves and it doesn’t seem to shed out as badly. What works wonderfully for my mini rex is a lint roller. Gently roll it over the bunnies back a few times. Use a couple new sheets and you’re good to go.

Mine is just over 3 and she’s feisty as hell. The lint roller works just fine. It’s not for heavy shedding b/c it can’t get down to the base, but it takes off the top layer of loosened fur. Or a damp paper towel works as well.

Thank you again for the advice! I really appreciate it. Before I make a new thread… how do I play with the rabbit so it won’t fee lonely? I gave it a hidey house and some toys but he won’t play with them….

There are different ideas for toys in the Habitat section. Also, rabbit.org has a great article about how rabbits play. It’s a good read.

You want to observe your bunnies favorite things to do, even if it seems destructive, to know what are going to be the favorite kind of toys. some are diggers, some climbers, some like to bite, some to toss, some to shred, some chase, etc. Once you notice what your bunny tends to want to do most, you get toys that are designed for that sort of play. Example: a climber might like a two story maze haven, but a chewer might like pine cones and willow balls.
