Last night I caught Owen eating the carpet. He had been at it for awhile and there were a bunch of loose strands around him and a visible empty patch in the carpet. Obviously, this isn’t encouraged as it’s probably his most steadfast of bad habits that I can’t get him to break. His punishment for this is being picked up (this is torture for him) and locked in his NIC cage.  I know I should have just left him for the rest of the night, but since I was still going to be up for awhile, after a bit I unlocked his cage but ignored him and went back to the TV.

I saw him start to run around a bit and then *plop* – There he was, right on top of me. I gave him some headrubs, which caused him to lay down and settle in right on top of me.  As the headrubs continued, the legs were eventually thrown back behind him.  And so he stayed for at least half an hour.

When he was done he jumped down, but then was back within 10 minutes for another extended session of headrubs for him and grooming for me.  And that repeated once again before it was finally my bed time and I locked him up for good with a fresh batch of hay.

But seriously, why do they make it so impossible to stay mad at them?!!!

Having met the handsome Owen, I can understand why you would be so easily persuaded…….. He is Super Cute!

It is quite possible that the hole chewing was due to the fact that you weren’t giving him the head pets to begin with. I mean, if he was at it long enough to leave a bald spot, you must have not been doing your duty of paying 100% attention to him all of the time like a good slave.

It’s because they steal your heart, and you can’t stay mad at them no matter what they do! =)

All three buns have been rather uppity with me lately and are doing little ‘naughty things’ to let me know they want more attention.

Problem is, it works so well. >.< They know I am just putty in their paws. And teeth. 0_o

Does sound like you wound up having a lovely evening with your bun though. ^_^ I mostly worry about how all the fibers and threads in fabric or carpet goes through that unbelievably twisted GI tract without hanging up somewhere? Did everything pass through okay?

I really want them to settle down on me like that. i feel just like the food provider at the moment xx

Oh dear, I’m sure markusdark is exactly right; anything less than 100% is not acceptable!  There is still something mysterious about this power that they hold, though.

Yeah, him eating the carpet is the bigger concern to me than the state of carpet (although I do rent, so holes aren’t exactly wanted).  So far he’s shown to have a hardy digestive track, so *knock on wood* that nothing happens to throw it out of whack.

Hahaha Yes Markus is completely correct. How sweet of your Owen to forgive you so quickly and allow you the honour of petting him again
