Hi! I’m Cat and I’m the mommy of a little lionhead male named Falkor (from the never ending story) but we call him Kory for short. He’s a sweet boy but he’s very shy. When he is out of his cage, he just hides in the corner of his bunny proofed room. I read that getting him a friend will make him happier and help with the shyness a little bit. The plan was to get him a lady friend, but during the search I fell in love with a mini Rex mut. He is calico colored and he let me pick him right up without any fuss. Now that he’s home, (we’ve named him Jack) he’s very hyper and runs around like crazy. Kory was just nuetered so I kept him in his cage but Jack ran over to it and got aggressive. I removed Kory’s cage and put it in a different room but is this a sign that they will not get along well? Thank you. I should also mention that Jack is not nuetered because he is only 4 months old. Kory is 6 months.

Both must be neutered. Don’t try bonding till the little one is neutered and recovered.

I’ve done a LOT of reading on bonding rabbits now, and in particular male rabbits, and the complete consensus is that you can’t bond young rabbits who are not neutered. They need to both be neutered, and then a month or so after that you can begin bonding them.

If you want to get them used to each other in the meantime, you can house them where they can see one another but can’t touch (even a little, as they can bite each other through pen bars if there’s not enough separation).
