I came across this unique litter box idea!  Very cool

         http://www.re-nest.com/re-nest/febr…009-077053

Though there are some issues like bunnies eating everything, I think you can modify it so you could put fresh herbs, greens, hay in, and make it and figure out a way that may work better for different situations.   But the idea is a great start of something very unique!

Ooo interesting. I may have to try this sometime. Would definitely look better than a regular litter box shoved in a corner of the living room!

That’s awesome! We’re just about to build Ariel and Miranda their new area together, and I was going to use logs (bunny safe ones) but now I’m thinking rocks as well!!

Are rocks OK for bunnies? Reckon they’d be nice a cool for them, as long as there were no sharp edges.

BB, do you do rabbit searches on these sites? I do! Rabbit and basically any pet solutions. I love looking at re-nest, apt therapy and the likes.
I think it was Angoragirl who posted about her Bunny Buffet. She had a herb and greens setup inside that the buns could go and graze on. So cool! Though at my place the plants wouldn’t stand a chance.

Yes, I do love it. I will print this picture and make a postcard out of it to send to my mother. She is serious about rock gardening, or ‘alpine horticulture’ as she terms it, and I would just love to design a project with her some time. In the meantime, I could see something like this in my bunny yard outside where I currently have no litter setup. I have rocks but they are too round. ~so many projects, so little time

That is so neat, I don’t know how well potted herbs would do in my bedroom though, its been pretty gloomy in here with all the rain and clouds. And I can just see Bee digging in them all and dirt going all over. My vacuum is a dog and gets clogged at least 5 times when I clean my room. They didn’t get their pellets on time today and Bee flung half the contents of their liter box all over my floor. What a mess!!!!!!!!

BB, this litterbox garden you posted about gave me a great idea. In my rabbit’s yard I just marked off one corner with rocks and made a bed of grass clippings/hay there for them. They knew right away it was a bathroom sign! Once it gets soiled enough I can rake it up but I think I really won’t need a box in the yard.

Monkey always good for some unusual observations, hehe. Yes Lint helped build it: he dashed under as I dropped the stuff in! Very smart indeed, it was raining hay!

Neigey not so smart, when I put them into their yard today: I didn’t close the little crate door after I grabbed Lint out of their carrier, and when I set it on top of the wood lattice Neigey walked out of the crate, and as I looked over, he dropped 40″ down between the wooden beams. He landed square on his fours in the grass and proceeded hopping like it was a planned stunt.

And my mom always said I have good observation skills… I’ve always noticed ever since I was little that many people didn’t see, or over looked. I like watching things around me

I have been searching for months to find the name of the famous British author who was suicidal but had a pet rabbit who kept up his spirit.

Haha! It was a guy way back when. A depressed famous author with bunny. My point is that a rabbit makes a fine writer’s muse.

It depends. You need to know where your clippings are from, that they are free from chemical residue. They can upset a bunny’s GI as well, so I dry my clippings for two days before using them. Dry clippings are a favortite for my rabbits. It is also a matter if your rabbits are used to them, or any grass for that matter. Always introduce new things gradually, little amounts in the beginning.

                                                      That’s really lovely.

Of course, my next thought was picturing how it would look with a small mountain of poopies.

Petzy, do you mean Beatrix Potter? (who is a she, so I guess not.)

No, not her… was she suicidal with rabbit too? Maybe there are many authors like this. LOL

I saw somewhere that you can put pulled apart cotten balls in a low pan with about a 1/2in to an 1in of water. And put grass seeds in it and grow your own little lawn-in-a-pot  The roots grow through the cotton balls instead of dirt.

Then, clip the grass for your buns, then it keeps growing from what’s left! Vwa-la!

I’ve wanted to try this forever, but where in the heck to you find grass seeds if you don’t want to buy a 20 pound bag!!!???? Haha!

I just don’t feel comfortable giving my rabbits grass from the yard. Maybe I’m paranoid, but weeds scare me (that they would eat them and something bad would happen) or that pesticides would spread in the wind or something… *shivers*

Potter definitely had rabbits, but I’m pretty sure she wasn’t suicidal. Or, who knows, maybe she was?
I recently re-read her books for inspiration for rabbit names for the flemmie my boyfriend’s getting (the baby comes home TOMORROW!). We settled on Benjamin for a name.

I think Arduina would eat those herbs down to the base in the littergarden. Neat idea, but how would you keep the bunnies from splurging and killing the herbs?
