Errrggg…Well this is a big thing in my life right now, so not to bring anyone down, but just to share.
There were 100+ starving horses seized earlier this month in a cruelty case. They are from excellent bloodlines, purebred Arabians; no one in the horse community knows what happened as the man who owned/bred them had a good reputation. Anyways, they are going through auction this thursday (I can’t believe they just put them through auction…) and the horse rescue I volunteer with is really out of space (the rescue has around thirty now, and just took eight from a seizure a few weeks ago).
So I’m frantically using my facebook, hotmail etc. to try to find foster homes for horses or even to try to stir up buyers for these guys as they come through auction. Basically these horse would normally have gone for five figure price tags, but due to the volume of horses and the condition they are in, alot may end up being bought for meat….Needless to say I’m stressed trying to drum up help and just needed to vent a little.
I’ll keep you guys posted on how many we are able to get (at the rescue) and how the auction goes etc. etc. Also, if you want to check out the place I volunteer at (featuring some of the horses we got at an auciton a few weeks ago in a simlar case….) it’s http://www.albertahorserescue.com The lady who runs it is great-she has a bunny too!
