Ugh. My mother refuses to turn the air down in our house and the air temperature is hovering around 79 degrees. Should I start worrying about heatstroke? She knows good and well that bunnies are proned to heat, but she refuses to put the thermostat below 73.

(And accidentally lock my mother out of the house so I can turn the air conditioner down while I’m at it? x| )

Also, does using fans even work for bunnies? I know they don’t sweat, but do they have pours/ are they capable of making use of a windchill effect?

I would look thru this section to find some options that might work for you.

I keep my a/c at 78 and it’s just fine. Remember being inside where it’s climate controlled makes a huge difference. As long as the inside air keeps circulated and they are indoors they should be fine. It’s not as if they are outdoors in direct sunlight.

Thanks for the tips, KatnipCrazy! I’m sure those will come in handy when I move out into my own apartment too. Especially that mini AC unit thing. I may just get one of those.

And that’s true, Sarita. Thanks. I guess I just worry too much sometimes.

Do you have tiles? Pam had a good idea to freeze plastic margarine tubs with lids, and just place those on there to keep the tile cool. Consistency is the key… Someone else (Kralspace maybe?) also mentioned putting dark sheets over the windows in the bunny room, to keep out the bright sunlight on the very hot days. This is something my family always did when we were growing up and surviving on a small window AC unit. (We also hung sheets in the hallways to keep the cooler air in the main living area…
