Hi guys, I’m having an issue with my bun. She is spayed and has been for a few months now. Recently, as in the last two weeks she has taken to peeing on my bed right where I sleep and only there. At first it was only when I wasn’t there. She has free roam of my bed room as I’m in college and rent a room. I started off my cleaning with vinegar and washing. I use a tarp when I’m gone and it stopped her from marking and have a water proof liner. I recently rotated the mattress so the pee spot is more in her area of sleep at the foot of the bed on the opposite side and that seemed to work. But I woke up this morning and I had been peed on ?. She peed on the comforter right by my head!! How do I get her to stop this behavior? She hates being in a cage and I don’t want to have to lock her up every night as I know she’ll make so much noise trying to escape. Does anyone have any advice for me that can help?

hello! My bunny Daisy (not spayed yet) is free roamed throughout the whole day except for night time. I take her out at 5:00am every morning to let her out. She knows she is only allowed up on the bed when I let her. She’ll try every morning 2x at 5:00am and i push her butt off lightly. By not allowing her on my bed, she has become accustomed to only coming on when i allow her too. I do this due to her past behavior of peeing on my bed. My suggestion is to not allow her on the bed if she is peeing or as soon as you see her about to pee, Pick her up and have a litter box right near the bed to train her that peeing on your bed isn’t okay. When I see my bun peeing somewhere she isn’t supposed to I scoot her into a litter box (I have 4 around the room) and she relieves her self in there. Allow her on your bed only when you say it’s okay. This has worked quite well with my bun and I! She hasn’t peed on my bed in quite some time and doesn’t wake me up once I let her out at 5:00am to get some more sleep for myself.

Hi Daisy! Thanks for your reply. I will try to reestablish my claim to the bed. I think she’s just really gotten it in her mind that she’s the boss. I fell asleep last night before putting her away and woke up a 4 am to a puddle right by my head again ? i’d Love to have it back to how it was where she was able to come and go as she pleased and sleep at the foot of my bed but I suppose that’s a bit too much to ask for. Other than her peeing near my head she has impeccable litter habits. So it’s not a problem of her not knowing where to go at least. Just doesn’t like me in my own bed ☹️ She’s also started to box me so there’s another issue I’ll have to look into. I’m trying to reestablish dominance I guess.

This definitely a discussion of who is the boss here. I did the same thing Daisy did with my buns- no more buns on the bed. What you may find helpful if you are sleeping and you find she is peeing in the same spot is get a puppy pad- I had to use puppy pads for my elder bunny Cinni when she couldn’t hop into her litter box anymore and it worked GREAT.Buns can be such stubborn creatures sometimes and it is hard to get the scent out so I would definitely suggest the puppy pads if she refuses to save your mattress but also tell her no and put her in a litter box when she does try to go.
