Amelia had her surgery and did great! She was a goof at the vet, kissing all the techs before her surgery. After her surgery she gave one of the techs all kinds of heck because she didn’t want to be held as she was waking up, but rather wanted to just sit on her, and make her be Amelia’s pillow. The staff also decided she is not actually a rabbit, but rather a puppy, based on her behavior and personality

She was eating her hay before she even left the vets office, spoiled little girl is getting alfalfa today, she has poo’d a little tiny bit, and is also eating hay here for me. She has most;y just been examining the water bowl I gave, and then trying to get her blanket just right.

I’m keeping her in her cage for now, she is far to desperate to get to her normal hidy spots or trying to figure jumping right now. But as of right now it seems that she has done great

Aww that’s so good! If only she would have known what was about to happen I wonder if she’d still have given the techs kisses lol?

And she peed!!! Missed the litter box, but I don’t really care. So she has eaten hay, peed poo’d and is drinking. She’s giving me tons of kisses and talking to me when I pet her. She’s now even flopped in her cage, I think I’ll be safe to sleep tonight

                    Yay Amelia !!!!
Dont be fooled by her brightness though Jessica. Keep her from jumping and stretching and binkying (if you can, lol) and keep those stitches safe until atleast 2 weeks post op.

Thanks everyone! She stayed in her cage from the time I brought her home. Just lots of me sitting on the floor with an arm in her cage because she wanted to cuddle, and groom me.

If she is getting antsy can I give her access to a small pen so she can stretch out if she wants? Right now she’s perfectly content in her cage, but it’s on The smaller side, which is fine since she usually only sleeps in it. If I do let her out in her pen it would be supervised. I just don’t want her to get mad when I’m gone this evening

I would errrr on the side of caution, certainly for the first week.
Small cages are not good if thats where they live but for a post op recup and stitches healing i think its totally acceptable. If she can lay down without being cramped up then its fine imho.

My Zou (80cm long) was in a smallish cage for two weeks and i let her out for supervised walking after a week. The bunny butt she gave me could be justified by keeping her stitches safe…

You don’t want to be saying “i should have….”. It will go quickly…

You are completely right! She has plenty of space and can flop and stretch even on the short side, she just can’t do her super long all legs fully stretched out except on a diagonal. I think it’s that I feel bad ?. She usually goes ballistic chewing on the door, shaking and digging it if she can’t get to me. So far she has been an angel

Yay, happy to hear that she’s doing well! How sweet that she was kissing the vet techs, most buns are in full NOPE! NOPE! NOPE! mode as soon as they’re in the waiting room. A friend of Bas was a vet tech, and he told us that buns were his least favourite patients, most had to be handled with thick gloves and 3 people. Those vet techs may have been very relieved to have such a sweet little bun in their care ^_^

                            Speedy recovery!

Thanks Ellie! Yeah she really is abnormal for a bun in her personality. I’m guessing part of it is how much time she spends with my chih X poodle mix dog. She is used to traveling too so I’m sure that helps. She visits my moms house once a week and goes to the pet store when we go, the dog. Rhys if the bun doesn’t get to come too!
