Has anyone ever taken any of their pets to a holistic vet?

I have an appointment next Thursday with one for my rabbit Maxine.  She is having trouble with one of her back legs – I think the muscles atrophied so she can no longer use it and it drags.  I have been using metcam, baby aspirin and buprenex (not all at once of course) and also doing my own version of massage and physical therapy too.  Obviously getting her active would probalby help the most but now that she is in this condition it’s even harder to do and she’s already about 7 years old and 13 pounds too.

This vet does accupuncture, homeopathic medicine, chiropractic, massage and reiki, homeopathic medicine and food therapy so I’m interested to see what she can do to help Maxine (and possibly some of my other rabbits too).  It ain’t cheap though!  But the first session is the longest.

Hey Sarita – I do know several holistic vets in my area (I’m a vet tech) and would not hesitate to use them if the opportunity arose!! I have have seen very positive outcomes with other peoples pet, especially with accupuncture. Also have a tech friend who is trained in pet massage. She would do a “perofrmance massage” on my show dog before a show and we could defianately see a difference, especially when it came to the obedience stuff – much more focused!!!! Tried to get her to work on me too!!!!! Anyway, I’m anxious to hear how it goes and what you think!!!
