I can’t imagine that is good to have going up your bunny’s nose…although I can understand how it would be blocking Itty Bitty’s scent…but then how do you block out the sight of her from Cotton? If he’s really against her, he won’t like her if he sees OR smells her.
Maybe Cotton is still not quite over the loss of Laith? He may see Itty Bitty as a bit of a threat in that case. Just a thought. Give him some more time, maybe he’ll come around. ^^

lol, this reminds me of the horse shows, in order to have mares and studs in close proximity, they rubbed a bit of vicks in their nose too.

ack, that just sounds like a very bad idea to me – what happens when he cleans it off and ingests it?
i know some people use a tiny dab of real vanilla to help mask the scent, however with my rabbits it actually made it worse when they couldn’t smell each other.

I would highly encourage you to have both bunnies neutered before even starting any kind of bonding activities.

I agree that it’s not a good idea. When they wash their face with their paws, they can get that into their eyes and it will burn. Eventually they are going to have to get used to each other’s scent so I double ditto gravehearted and agree you should wait until they are neutered before you start bonding them.

I agree. Cotton will just pick up her scent another day, and ultimately you want him to have a good association with her scent rather than a negative one. He’s definitely jealous of any other bun, but if you can bond him slowly after her neutering it might be enough time that he’s willing to try. Right now she’s competition for your affection – maybe once he meets her she will be another cuddly someone, like you are, for him to get close to. He’s SO affectionate with you (when he isn’t tasting you or complaining) that I think there is hope for them eventually. (Horse’s noses are about the size of a whole bunny! I think it’s much less dangerous for them.) You thought you’d try the Feda-scented toy. How’d that worked with him? Did he tear it up?

                    bunnytowne,

Also, check out Markusdark’s thread, Help with a Movie. It’s about Save a Bunny. I know they aren’t located near us at all, but maybe you could shoot them an email asking for help or advice for your problems with Itty BF and Cotton. Again, it might be too soon for that, but they might be a good resource for you. The work they did with his buns is amazing.

hmm good ideas yes the vics is quite strong makes my eyes tear and I am not even sticking it on my nose. I am not going to really try to bond them for a long time at this point. yes when he sees her he goes bezerk too. my lovely cotton he is beside me cleaning himself sweetie boy. he will never be replaced  not even by this sweet young thing who came home 2 weeks ago. I can see him thinking hey whats this sweet young thing you brought home get her OUT.  like I left him for a sweet young thing ahaa. well time for clean up adn freshen their food cotton first of course. he comes out and greets me when I let him out this morning. well I will give up on bonding for couple of months. it is not a priority for me at this point.

oh dear, I wasn’t advocating using it on bunnies for all the reasons you guys have stated, but it could sure calm down a horse spat in a hurry. But then, I’ve never seen a horse groom themselves with their own feet..lol
