His first grunt

Hey all, nothing pressing here, just felt like sharing.  Last night I heard Bunny grunting for the first time.  This was a happy grunting, I thought it was pretty neat.  He didn’t do it very loud, but he did it quite a few times.  It was when I got home, and let him out, I sat down next to him for  a few minutes to say hello and thats when I heard it.  I think my rabbit loves me

Very cute. Isn’t it fun? When Rosy first started grunting I wasn’t sure it was even coming from her. Ha ha, I thought I was a little bit crazy for a while

Awhhhhh mine does that when he sees me now (I just adopted him the Thursday before last), isn’t it cute? They sound like pigs when they do that ;P

I always thought the grunting was when a bun was really ticked, like my rabbit Rex. He only grunted two or three times and each time it was because he wanted to be left alone. He was a loving guy but when he said “no” he meant NO. I respected that and in over 9 years only heard it a few times and he never nipped. None of my other guys ever grunted until my recently acquired bun Brando who we adopted as a baby in March. He grunts pretty much all the time and it’s when he knows I am going to pick him up. I laugh and grunt right back at him. He has never nipped, is quite a suck and he is continually pulling binkies. I’ll pick him up and he’ll be grunting the whole time and I say “yes, I know you’re stressed, how about a nice massage?” and then he just melts, eyes closed, while I give him a head to toe massage and brushing. My other bun, Casey, doesn’t like being brushed and only tolerates it during molt but he does like to be held at my shoulder and petted and he has never grunted. He also binkies a lot. So, is the grunting a stress indicator, a personality trait or what? You can’t help loving these furballs – they sure keep us on our toes!

Wembley, there are a couple different kinds of grunts. We are talking about the soft little piglet noises they make. It sounds exactly like a happy baby pig. I think you’re thinking of the growling noise they make when they don’t want to be messed with. Rosy has done both, and believe me, you’ll know the difference . A lot of bunnies don’t ever make the piglet noise. Rosy did it a lot when she was a baby, but now I don’t hear it much at all.

Nibblette grunts all the time. He grunts getting excited over food or when he doesnt want you in his cage. When u get to petting him and he likes it he stops purring and grunts loudly nuzzling you. Lol he grunts even if I am pettin mr hopper and he is jealous for attention.

Im surprised, mine only lets me pick him up without hassle if hes ready to go to the living room, or when hes ready to go back to his pen. I usually bring him out when I get home from work and then later that night he goes back to the pen. If I have him out for more than 3 or 4 hours he is ready to go back and eat/drink so he puts up no fuss, however, before that and he tries to kick his way out of my hands lol. He also doesnt like to be in the air too long. Same for if he isnt ready to leave the pen, which is not often but sometimes.

Wooly just grunts at the brush or the scissors. He will grunt and then try to nip which ever object is annoying him. He did grunt once when he was overly excited for some treats. But I don’t know if it was because he really wanted the treats or Leopold was annoying him while trying the get the treats.

I love those honks/grunts! Huckleberry does them when its food time. She is kind of fat so when she runs and honks, it sounds like she is huffing and puffing from running.
That bun that I found last weekend, Tom Sawyer as I was calling him, was a very verbal bun. I would come in the room and he would honk nonstop. He was very excited to talk to me and tell me all about how happy his life is. So cute!
