  its sad really. i’ve had my bun for about 7 years now and i still cant communicate well with him.
  
  a lot of times when i walk past Shadow’s cage he would jump towards me and put his front paws on the side of the cage. sounds like an obvious plea to be let out, yes?
  
  nope. because as soon as I open the hatch he retreats to the corner of the cage and sits in a still balled up position. when he does that i feel that he doesnt want to go anywhere.
  
  i cant image what else he would want.

  Food! I’m betting he’s doing that in hopes you’ll give him a treat. If you’ve ever fed him one thru the bars before – he’s possible trying to “beg” for one now each time. If that is the case – be careful not to give into him every time. He might settle for some nose rubs and your general undivided attention.

  you know what that just might be it. i do feed him through the bars sometimes O_O
  so hes actually begging for snackies everytime i walk by.
  
  right now i’ve just been stroking his head. he get very still when i do that so maybe he likes it
