Hi bunnytowne. I went through a similar experience as you. I have had my Freddy-bun for 8 mths. A little while ago I was at the vet with my cats and I overheard a lady saying she couldn’t keep her rabbit anymore because her dog was scaring it. So, I took her bunny home to see if I could bond her with Freddy.
She was a lovely female bun and I had high hopes, but it was not to be. She was very scared of Fred and he constantly attacked her. I couldn’t even keep them side by side in cages because Freddy would keep scratching and biting at the bars to get to her. Then Fred, who is beautifully litter-trained, started peeing and pooping all over the house…saying “This is my place. Get OUT!!”
I was so upset to see the change in personality to my Fred that I had to give the other bun back and hope they found her a better home.
I felt awful, but really I think they will both be happier apart.
Fred is back to his old self, happy to be my only love. I think as long as they get plenty of attention from you then they are fine to be only buns.
It sounds as if Cotton is a very happy only bun!! (I also sing silly songs to Fred – but my voice is terrible! Luckily Freddy doesn’t seem to mind!)
