I took the boys in to the new vet today. She told me they were both in great shape. Henri weighs six pounds and Acorn weighs three. I didn’t actually realize Henri weighed that much! I’m trying to figure out when I can set up their neuters now though because their morning drop off hours really don’t work with my work schedule very well so I may have to take half a day to get them there. She said that I could leave them over night if I wanted to do that but I am not sure I want to make them stay there overnight. I would be really worried about them the whole time too. If I do decide to leave theovernight then they will be getting done on Valentine’s Day. They have an appointment open on Monday but that is really short notice as far as work goes and I have a meeting Monday I can’t miss.

        What would you guys do?

I think I would be ok leaving them overnight. They’ll be sleepy anyway after the surgery. I think it’s better to get them done as soon as you can.

I agree with KnowItons, I would leave them overnight or my other suggestion would be to wait until it can be worked into your schedule. Besides, it’s not something like emergency surgery that HAS to be done now either.

I would have no worries leaving them overnight at the vet’s – it’s a hard thing to do but they will be safe and in good hands.

Cadbury had to stay overnight after her spay, because we lived too far away to take her home right after the spay. She was fine. I would just ask if they have a separate bunny post-op room, so your buns don’t have to listen to barking dogs all night!

I would definitely opt for the overnight stay. Mimzy had to, it was required by our vet. Since bunnies are sensitive to anesthesia, my vet was insistent that Mim be watched overnight, and then he came home the next day when my hubby went to get him. (Can’t tell you how strange it was to have a totally quiet habitat all night, I did tend to wake up every hour or so and think, ‘Why is he not at least snuffling or something?’ And then the realization hits. I was dancing out to the car the next day when he returned!)
I think it’s the best thing to do for them. They will be in good hands. ^^
Wow, Valentine’s Day. I can’t believe that’s almost here already. I will keep your little furbabies in my prayers for a safe and uneventful procedure and recovery.

Oh, I didn’t even think about the after surgery thing. It is the night before that they would have to stay because the office doesn’t open until 8:30 for drop offs and I am supposed to start work at seven. . . I didn’t realize that so many buns stayed overnight after their surgeries. The clinic is pretty small though and actually I did see their bunny room and it is not the same room as the cats or the dogs so I don’t think that the boys would have to worry about that much. . . I think I will set it up for Valentine’s Day. . . . lol, happy V-day boys, you’re getting neutered. . .
