We sadly lost our sweet Tilly last night.  It was very sudden and we’re all still trying to process what’s happened.  She leaves behind the love of her life, Nibbles.  These two absolutely adored each other.  He was right at her side up until the end and was able to spend some time with her body afterwards.

Nibs is doing okay.  He has been eating (although not quite as much as usual), pooping, etc.  He definitely seems “off” and spent much of this morning just sitting–not laying down, not relaxed, just sitting…like he didn’t know quite what he was supposed to be doing.  We’re trying to spend extra time with him, of course, and he’s been happy to be pet.

I’m not sure what to do with their pen, though.  We have a large x-pen set up (about 9×12′).  Tilly’s stray poops and fur are fur are still in there and we haven’t changed the litter bin.  Should we leave it as is for a few days (obviously, we have to clean it eventually) or will her lingering scent confuse him?  We’re also thinking of moving his pen into our main living room area so we can be nearer to him.  Right now, he’s in a room off the living room, which is still easy to pop in and out of, but we thought it might be better to be as close as possible.  However, that would mean putting him in a brand new environment and I’m not sure if that would be more stress for him.

Any help is appreciated.  Thank you <3

I’m sorry to hear about Tilly. 🙁

To be honest, I would not move him. At least not yet. I think it’s helpful to keep the same routine when one of a pair passes away.
