Help with two male bunnies

Bunny details!
Gimli: He is going to be a year in January. He is a black lion head dwarf bunny.
Thorin: He is about two months old and a white lion head dwarf bunny.

Before I got the second rabbit I took mine to the pet store and they got along GREAT!!!! cuddling in a corner together and licking each other. 
Two weeks later we got the rabbit but everything changed… As soon as they were together Gimli started to become VERY aggressive and attempting relations with him also. I split them up into two cages but when one is out Gimli is NUTS!!! If Thorin is running around he will be grunting, biting at his cage [which he has never done], and freaking out. If Thorin is in his cage Gimli runs around it and poops, bites at the cage, and trying to get in, and he will become aggressive towards us; he will run up and scratch at our legs. If they are out at the same time Gimli just attempting relations and being VERY aggressive.

I need advise because I have read that they might kill each other and I already love them so much. Please help <3

I see no mention of them being neutered. Are they? The one is only 2 months, so I am assuming no. They need to be neutered first before you can bond them. Otherwise hormones are going to interfere with them forming any kind of meaningful bond.

According to her profile, it looks like Gimli is neutered and has been since this spring. But yes, the baby is most likely not due to his/her age.

You will need to wait to bond them until the baby is fixed and allowed to heal for at least a month. If it is too stressful for them to be in the same space, I would recommend separating them ” entirely and allowing different areas for exercise (so they can’t see or smell each other). Once the baby is fixed, they can be reintroduced as “new bunnies” in neutral space.

Gimli is fixed and Thorin is still too young. I believe we will have to have them separated because Gimli freaked out last night and tried to open his cage all night until I put a blanket over his cage

I would definitely keep them separated until the new boy is neutered + 4-6 weeks for hormones to dissipate. Doing bonding before that rarely helps future bonding but can hurt it.

what would you all of you think of just having their cages in the same room but never out at the same time.

If they are okay with it, then it is probably okay. If they are going crazy though, then it is best to keep them where they can’t see each other.
