        Hi guys!
So I was sat in my garden earlier this evening and my neighbour was telling me how she planed to just let her go tonight as she didn’t like it and her children didn’t clean it, ect they 5 and 3 so they don’t understand the responsibility! Anyway I offered to buy the rabbit and she agreed she brought it round and it a shy little female dawf breed. (I’m going to take to a vet tomorrow for a full health check) anyway she had it in a cage no bigger than my hamsters so I’ve bought a big cage for her and set her up in my bedroom and I was just wondering if you guys could help me with what’s safe toys for her etc? I would of done a lot more research in getting one if it wasn’t so rushed.

It’s awesome you took her in!
          That poor bunny
All rabbits love different things but there are some general consensous that rabbits love tunnels and cardboard boxes( cut a little door in the side and it makes a great fortress to hide in!)

Chews are often a lot of fun for them-safe wood like willow, some enjoy plastic baby keys to toss around, kids stacking cups are popular with mine, making a dig box is something thats wildly amusing (if they use it)
Also simply putting hay in a toilet roll tube can keep a bunny amused for a while!

Hi! Well done on your part for standing up and giving her a better home . What’s her name? There’s a bunch of information on this site under “Bunny Info” but here’s a very quick condensed version of food basics until you get everything settled:

            – unlimited hay (not alfalfa unless she is less than 6 months old)
            – 1/8 cup pellets (depending on size/age)
            – veggies (if she is at least 3 months old)

Wow, your neighbour sounds like a complete so and so. Letting a domestic rabbit loose because her toddlers didn’t clean up after it? Thank goodness you took her in!

For toys, my rabbits love plastic stacking cups, bow,ing pins giant legos etc. They like Willow balls, dumbells and things to chew on. Log tunnels go down after treat too as hey like to lah under them and chew them.

The main things to know what be she needs unlimited hay , 1/8th -1/4 a cup daily of pellets ( closer to a 1/8th since she is a dwarf ) – I split that over two meals . Keep the brand she has been using at the start as you would need to slowly transition to a new pellet if she is on not very good ones ( food coloured, seed mixes or low in fibre = not good, good brands are burgess , oxbow or I believe there are a couple more that I can’t think of the name of right now )

And unless you know what veges she has been getting and used to I wouldn’t for a week – let her settle in. Their stomachs upset easily with new foods or increased amounts so best to read up on introducing veges first and which ones are safe etc first

I use willow and apple sticks for mine – making sure they are not sprayed
These are the two I know are safe – there are more but there are also a lot that aren’t safe so again give yourself time to research it before adding to that but those two are great starters for keeping her teeth worn down.

You have done a wonderful thing! She would have died if released

As for toys – plastic baby keys , plastic stacking cups etc are good – just make sure it’s the tough baby plastic not the see through plastic that shards when broken
Toilet roll tubes stuffed with hay and cardboard boxes with holes cut out for her to hide in and hop through are good
Mine love their ware jumbo flexible plastic tunnel and living world large domes hideaways ( these are both on Amazon if that’s easier ) but aren’t nessasary over cardboard versions just chucking out some ideas
