Ok, I went to a new pet that had lots of variety of hay and I bought Izabella some hay with Marigold flowers in it.  I gave her some this morning and now her tail seems to be wet! I know that is not good! Yikes.  I think I just posted this morning how healthy she is! Omg!

I have some wet tail med to put her water I am doing that now and I will replace the hay with the normal hay.

        Anything else!?

First, I doubt that the change in hay would have caused any sudden illness. If she is sick, there may be other reasons. Have there been any other changes recently? Have you noticed different behavior?

Second, I don’t believe rabbits can get wet tail – I think it is a hamster specific illness. I would stop giving her meds immediately, unless prescribed by a vet, as they will do more harm than good.

Is her tail wet with pee? It’s possible she has a urinary tract infection and needs to see a vet for antibiotics.

            Gin,
I’m not familiar with wet tail med, but if your vet gave it to you for a previous episode of wet tail, then I’d like to know more about it.
Did she pee outside her litter pan or is this something different? If you ever need to dry her quickly, you can always sprinkle some corn starch, the kind you keep in the kitchen, after gently wiping her off with a damp clothe to clean any urine. It’s called a dry bath.

            Hope she’s better now.

The dri-tail is from the Petsmart, and it says to give them 24 drops in their water. She has passed soiled poops in the last 30mins and has been running around. I am only giving her regular timothy hay and pellets tonight. No marigold flower timothy hay, which is what I gave her this morning. She has not acted sick, she just had yellow stuff on her tail and her hind legs. I am first time bunny owner and overprotective. She is acting fine. Running around, coming to us for “nose petting” ….
I actuall went to the store and looked for pumpkin and walmart was out!
I gave her a chewage payaya tablet, to also help with “wet tail” … she ate 1/l2 of it.
Am I over reacting? She’s my baby!

I fed her celery leaves last night? For the first time, could that have done?

I don’t think you’re overreacting, but you may be mis-diagnosing. If the wet tail symptom was not treated by your vet, then I agree with E. and you should stop administering any medications in her water. I would wash it out and give her fresh water now. Cutting back on a new hay can’t hurt, so just feeding the timothy and clear water will be fine. It sounds like a urine stain. Poops to be normal should be round an firm, about the size of a raisin. An odd shaped, softer smelly poo is a cecal, which she will eat. Runny poos are an indication of a problem, as is uncontrollable urine. You should probably call the vet to have her seen tomorrow, but I wouldn’t rush out for more remedies. Clean the litter pan, give her hay, water and some gentle greens and watch her pee/poo until morning. If she walked in her own pee, it will take a few tries for her to clean herself.

Izzy is fine! Oh my goodness, she is the bunny poo machine now.. She is playing with my daughter and in her excitement has gone about 20 poos! She does that when she is very happy. She runs around in circles around our feet pooing trying to get us to chase her and bend down to pet her nose! Oh my she is still pooing! It is round and normal. Yay Izzy! I dumped out the Dri-Tail and gave her normal water and still only giving her normal Timothy Hay and her normal food. Just in case. Thank you all so much for holding my hand. I know I am a silly mommy. I just love my bunny.

                    Hugs to all,

It could have been a reaction to celery the night before. Anything you introduce as a new food needs to be extremely limited. If she had urinated on herself, like Elrohwen said, it could be a sign of UTI. Continue watching her and see if it happen again.

In the meantime, do you have a rabbit-savvy vet, just in case something like this happens again? The time to start looking for a vet is BEFORE you need one.

I just want to put this out there for anyone else who may read this later…
PLEASE, please, please do not self disgnose a pet illness and self medicate! Many products sold in Pet Stores are garbage, and if the medication is not for Rabbits this could cause many issues, make your Rabbit sick. If you feel your rabbit is ill seek Veterinary care!
