I was hoping someone could recommend me where to buy some compact Timothy hay cubes. I live in Oakland CA and not close to any farms, so an online source would be great.

My bun is 5 mo going on 6, and since I got him in March (he was 3 mo), I’ve been feeding him Kaytee brand Timothy blend cubes (it’s an alfalfa blend) bc I was recommended to try hay cubes since I have allergies. I was also reccomenddd orchard hay but he doesn’t like orchard at all:/ So I tried feeding him loose alfalfa, which he LOVES, but I had the absolute worst allergies the week I trial fed him alfalfa. So, I stuck to the cubes! He’s been eating them since and they are amazing. He loves hem, they are easy to clean, he plays with them, they smell less, and no stuffy nose and watery eyes for me! My only worry is that because it’s alfalfa blend these are meant to be treats for adult rabbits… as ginger gets older, I know I shouldn’t feed this to him as a staple, but idk what to replace it with! I haven’t found hay cubes anywhere else. Anyone else have a hay allergy? What do you feed your bun? Is it ok to feed these cubes to an older bun as 80% of their diet?

Cubes aren’t recommended as the main source of hay because they don’t wear the molars down like chewing on long strand hay does.

You could also try meadow hay, bermuda hay, oat hay and possibly some others I’m forgetting. L

I don’t know where you would get Timothy cubes.

You can switch brands . Kaytee makes me sneeze but Oxbow does not. Every company grows their hay somewhere different, so the dust from one company can be more agreeable with you.

Thanks! I tried Oxbow alfalfa and that made me sneeze, but I beleive alfalfa is already more dusty than other hays. I’ll try their Timothy and orchard

Thank you! I haven’t heard of Bermuda or meadow and will do some research, thanks for the Rec. I still feed ginger loose orchard, but he rarely eats it and just seems to make a big mess of it. I’m going to try one of these and hopefully no sneezes!

My boys will eat orchard and oat. Timothy is usually the culprit if someone has a hay allergy. I’m not allergic to grass, but I did switch to orchard because it seems less dusty in general.
