I have five dwarf rabbits, 2 Hotot, Mini-Rex, Polish and my tiny baby Netherland.  Only the Mini-Rex is into running; I’d love them all to do so, both for good exercise and my entertainment  .  But they seem more interested in exploring, playing around in nooks and crannies, asking for treats and snuggling.  They’re all over two, is there any way I can get them to run around like rabbits are "supposed to"?  No, they’re not overweight, get a diet completely of Tim Hay and T.H. Pellets and daily greens…aaaand the occasional raisin, teeeeny bite of banana or apple, and are in good health and good weight.  So what’s their problem?  Didn’t they read the Bunny Manual or something?  They have back-yard access…VERY VERY protected…a couple of hours a day, and are hutched the rest of the time.

ANY help would be appreciated…?  Thanx.  Niki

Hi Nikki and welcome! Well actually it sounds like they are acting very normal. They are very curious about their environment and are about exploring especially if they are cooped up for long periods of time. Are you rabbits housed indoors or out? It sounds like they are getting the right care and it might be that is just the way that they are. Usually the younger rabbits spend more time running around and soemtimes it can take a while for them to dance around and “binky.” I know that many members here have noted that their rabbits dance and binky more to certain types of music and David Bowie seems to be a favorite!

It’s true Niki. Some bunnies actually never ‘run’. My gf’s bunny hasn’t ever sprinted but tends to just lope around. So don’t worry if they don’t go bursting around like gangbusters.
